Need for Speed: Shift

So I guess this game is amazing. Anyone have it?

alvarado52 09-22-2009 08:08 PM

Yeah, its good...i mean, i dunno if its AMAZING. Id say its as pretty as Grid, but doesnt have the learning curve of most 'sim' racers. I dig it.

Are you playing in third person or first person tho? I guess it makes a big difference, and First person is mad intense in this.

Started playing it on PC today. Pretty fun, but it is glitchy on PC. Had to run it in Win 98 compatibility mode just to get it to work, and it is pretty laggy even though my PC is not bad at all. Had to turn down some settings and mess with it to get it to run kinda smooth.

Saw some pretty retarded gameplay glitches on 360 too at a friend's.

^ The PS3 version doesn't even have proper damage :o

I'm playing it on PC right now, but apparently a lot of people, including myself, have problems with the twitchiness of the cars. It's all a matter of car tuning, but it's pretty ridiculous when you the high horsepower cars and the tracks are like racing on ice.

And I play mainly in the view with the hood, which I guess is pretty much first person. I only play in the cockpit mode when I'm familiar with the track.

Also for any PC players, are you getting seriously long load times (45 seconds or more)? Because I do and it's a pain in the ass quitting races to get back to the menu in order to tune and re-tune or change controller sensitivities.

Seriously. Bring back what made NFS good. Cop Chases, free roam, street tuners. NFS has turned into just another dime a dozen racer.

Yeah, the load times are bad. Not THAT bad, but I have had up to 30 seconds at times. Usually around 20 seconds, which is 'meh'. It gets annoying though to have a 20 second load time every time I go in or out of a race.

Vietnamese Crippler 09-23-2009 06:55 PM

I was exaggerating a bit on the 45 seconds :o

I timed it last night and it was 35 seconds to get from the race selection to being on the grid. Although it does seem to get better the longer you play.
