I truthfully believe the WWE should re-hire Val Venis. No, I don't think they should give him a World Title push, or anything. But I do sincerely believe that he could be a fantastic addition to the SmackDown! roster.

Val puts over guys very well. His selling is really top notch, and with SmackDown! featuring longer matches, Val could really put some guys over fantastically there. He's been gone for a while now, so re-introducing him would wash off that jobber stink, and he could occasionally get a win every now and then to keep him relevant to the mid-card on that show.

Also, with the Intercontinental Title looking more prestigious than it has in years, Val being a former two-time champion gives him something to hang on to. The belt means something again, so therefore so does being a champion. While I don't even think Val would be demanding of a third IC Title reign, I do think that him showing up and eventually saying "Hey, I want a title shot" could lead to some fantastic matches with whoever the champion is.

Thoughts? If it absolutely sickens you to discuss Val Venis in a thread started by Noid, feel free to talk about anyone else you'd like to see brought back to the WWE.

Kendrick = crap
Kennedy = most definately
Umaga = most definately
Burke = god yes
London = most definately (could see & a larger partner feud with Hart Dynasty)
Cade = not a fan
Murdoch = not a fan
Big Daddy V = god no
Richards = I'm assuming Stevie..... if only as a manager, yes
Cabana = didn't work the first time....
Walker = if he lost weight, then yes

Cade and Murdoch were a FANTASTIC team. Their matches with the Hardyz were awesome.

With the title being more prestigious than ever it's all the more reason to keep Val Venis from challenging for it.

They should do an Intercontinental Title Battle Royal open to any and all former IC champs at WM XXVI. This way you could just about bring back anyone the likes of D'Lo, Venis, A-Train, Goldust, Lance Storm, or just about anybody else that's held the strap. I know it sounds like a stretch for the WWE, but hey, it could make for an entertaining match IMO.

Val Venis is a very well balanced wrestler in terms of his skill and charisma. With a different gimmick and/or character, he would be a welcome addition to Smackdown or ECW.

For some reason, I see Paul Burchill being the equivalent of Venis on the current roster.

The gimmick.
While the Goldust persona has had sexual overtones the gimmick has been shown to be multidimensional. With the Val Venis persona it has been nothing but one big PG13 joke, which isn't that great in a TVPG era.
Now I'd say bring back Sean Morley as Sean Morley, with the Val Venis music. Give him more of a player gimmick, and don't mention the fact he was a porn star. Morley is a fantastic preformer, but this tvpg era has no room for a porn star.

-Brian Kendrick apparently has no interest in returning, and I doubt the WWE would want the stoner back. Kendrick is awesome, and I'd love to see him in either TNA, ROH or DG-USA, but the WWE seems unlikely.

-Mr. Kennedy is one I would agree with. The WWE should bring him back before TNA signs him. Umaga apparently has drug problems.

-Elijah Burke would be a good one if he weren't in TNA.

-Paul London and the WWE just didn't mesh. I don't know if London would be even interested in returning. I wish the guy would go back to ROH, though.

-Lance Cade is another guy with drug problems, apparently.

-Trevor Murdoch could have been much better than he was. While not a tragic shame he was released, they should have done more with him.

-Big Daddy V? Ew.

-Do you mean Davey Richards or Stevie Richards? I like both guys. Stevie would make a great manager wherever he is.

-Colt Cabana is one that I would definitely like to see given a chance. What the WWE doesn't get is that comedic gimmicks can be given credibility in the ring. Especially when they are as good a performer as Cabana is. With Samoa Joe and Mick Foley pushing for him, though, it is likely he'll end up in TNA with a shitty name.

-Braden Walker does not need to be commented on. He is legend enough.

Paul Burchill is a damn good talent, but I'd like to see him do more than enhancement. He's still quite young, and not exactly going to retire tomorrow. I'd like to see him and Katie Lea get more chances in the future.

I'd think that Charlie Haas is probably the closest thing to a Val Venis equivalent right now. The biggest difference between the two is that Venis was a face, while Haas is a heel.

I do agree with this. In the PG-era, though, the gimmick could either work for or against Venis. If they kept the gimmick up, Venis could actually be somewhat of a different act, standing out from all the clean-cut guys. The character was originally meant to be a heel, but was turned face because the Attitude era was picking up steam, and the adult male fans loved a guy who fucked a lot of women.

Venis treating the Divas like objects could be a nice way to get him over as a heel. But you could also distance him from the gimmick, and get him over based on him being a "respected veteran." Hey, if Hardcore Holly can do it, then Venis definitely could.

I don't mind Val Venis, but I don't really miss him. I wouldn't be upset to see him again, though.

Also, there's a difference between Paul Burchill and Val Venis. Venis was basically a flat out jobber by the end of his run. Burchill jobs quite a bit, but he's always made to look like a threat, and I think he could easily be taken seriously given a string of wins. He's got a very positive upside.
