After seeing ECW tonight and seeing a couple other recent interractions between Morrison and Ziggler, I had an idea for Ziggler...

As much as some of us seem to enjoy him, I think we can agree that his mic work is subpar. As of late, it appears that Morrison just 'owns' him verbally and he shuts up and leaves. SO....what if Ziggler were to take a vow of silence until he started getting the respect he feels he deserves? I think it would make the character seem more focused (all while hiding his lackluster mic skills) and it may give the character more of an 'edge', so to speak.

Just a thought. Could it work?

It's not a bad idea. I would not be opposed to seeing someone take a "vow of silence." I'm just not sure I would call Ziggler horrible on the mic, though. I quite enjoyed his commentary the other night on SmackDown!.

Ziggler probably needs more practice speaking than less.

The only time I was really put off to Ziggler on the mic was at Breaking Point during the segment with Pat Patterson. He hasn't been too awful outside that, but that was a very awful performance. You're probably right about the practice, though.

A silent character could work, though -- don't get me wrong.

This is why 'Managers' should make a reappearance.

Imagine what a Heenan or Heyman could do for an up-and-comer's career these days. Wouldn't matter if they were crap on the mic, so long as they had the look, the presence and the ring skills.

The mic skills could then be improved over time.

Ziggler could generate huge heat from it. Say he pays for interview space only for him to go out to the ring and just stand there with a mic in his hand not doing anything. The crowd would boo the shit out of him.

Festus isn't silent, either. He was singing on Raw that one night.

Depends how it was put into motion, if he just said "right I'm not talking until I get respect" it would just make him sound childish.

They could do that and have him sorta showing himself off, considering his theme.

If he did that it'd just come off as a comedy gimmick.

They need any generic Miss Fit, Bad Guy, Hennan family type manager and stable...

in fact just bring back the damn million dollar corporation, or the vince or shane one....

I think it could work, especially considering he'd have the benefit of Jim Ross putting him over on commentary. I think Ross has done C.M. Punk wonders since Punk moved over to SmackDown, and I'd sure as hell trust him to get a gimmick like that over instead of Cole and Lawler.

As for the comparison to Edge's 'tortured soul' gimmick, the difference here would be that everybody would know exactly why Dolph wasn't talking. He wouldn't seem nearly as cryptic and brooding. Also, if he were to keep quiet long enough, when he finally did talk again could be sort of a big deal.

You know when wrestlers come to the middle of the ring and stage a sit-down protest until they get what they want? It would basically be an elongated version of that.
