Role playing + first person shooter. I don't know how it's gonna work out but sounds interesting. Most interesting thing to me is the open world and the "hundreds of thousands of guns". If you will be able to customize the characters looks and everything then I think I will definitely buy it.

Although I kind of wish they went with the original art style instead of cel shading, but whatever. Still love what I've read of it so far.

Randomization

The game will also have a unique feature similar to Diablo's random level generation system. This new system will generate more than 650,000 different guns as well as at least 500,000 different item and armor variations, according to the preview of the game in Game Informer magazine. Developers have said that the gun total is now over 16,000,000 (as of PAX 2009).

"We saw a ridiculous amount of guns, but perhaps the strangest was a revolver that fired shotgun shells. Gearbox is constantly surprised with what the system comes up with. They've seen rifles shoot everything from homing darts to rockets. 'One of the guns tracks onto something and locks, and after three seconds, [the target] suddenly explodes,' director Matthew Armstrong says."

The features of the maps will also be randomly generated. While towns, and the general paths connecting them will remain the same, Borderlands features a system that randomly instances the surrounding landscape, with randomly placed things such as bunkers, towers, caves, enemies, and exploding cacti. All of this is done without a loading screen. Gearbox plans that the player will not see a loading screen after they boot up the game.

Guess there won't be a demo before it comes out which sucks.

Shit. Prolly not gonna get this yet as I am buying uncharted 2 tomorrow.

This game is amazing! Playing with more people definately makes it harder, also depending on the levels of all of the players, but still. It kicks ass.

I've been watching people play and originally I wanted to buy it but I think I would get tired of it soon. The idea of the different guns is cool but I don't know. How is multiplayer? What do you like about it?

I like that if you wanted to, you could have 4 of the same classes. I like that all of the money is shared as opposed to going to 1 person. I like that the level of a player will go hand in hand with the levels of enemies. I also like the drop-in, drop-out scheme. Plus if you get bored with a class, you can leave, change to a new class and join another game and it doesn't overwrite your original characters. I currently am doing the game as a Siren, currently at level 20, but I also have a level 2 Soldier, a level 9 Hunter, and a level 4 Berserker so I can play different characters with different people. If you get it Jura and need some good drops let me know. I've got a ton of shit to spare.

Fucking fuck probably gonna pick this up since it's $40 at Walmart in Canada.

Haven't seen any zombies yet BDC. Although Skagzilla was a bitch and a half. I ran out of ammo for 5 of the 7 guns I was carrying trying to kill that son of a bitch. Although I will say this, Corrosive and Incindiary weapons are fucking amazing. Nothing like watching a dude scream in agony as his face is melted off by acid from your sniper rifle.

You can just say Ermac. Everyone else does. I have to find a new pic of him. The one I had got taken down.:(

Dude, seriously WTF? There is no way you can beat the Raak Hive by yourself. It's not even a fair fight. Those things are everywhere.

From what I hear, this is not for casual gamers. It's pretty hardcore and if you take on enemies even 2 levels higher than you, you'll get fucked. Add to this that if you play in the world of whoever is the host, and said host could be 20 levels higher than you, you get some major setbacks. You pretty much have to find people to play with together at specific times so you can level up together, and stay around the same level.

That's why I'm going with tekken next week.

What gets me is that there was no demo for this.

this game is incredible. Incendiary sniper rifle needs to be a real weapon. I want to shoot people in the face and watch their headless corpse flail around on fire for real.

I prefer hitting them with an incindiary weapon, then a shock weapon, and then watching them melt when hit by my corrosive shotgun. :D

ROFL Yea, although corrosive scattergun blasts in a pack of enemies is also quite fulfilling.

Just got done with a 2 hour run of Borderlands, and I'm happily surprised of how fun it is. I've been hearing little tidbits of info about it for awhile now, but nothing too exciting, that was making me look forward to the release. But had some extra cash to rent a game, and smackdown wasn't in, so I snatched this up. So happy smackdown wasn't in now. This game is addicting, and it seems pretty massive.(something I love in games) Really can't wait to try out some of the co op online play later after raw. I can only assume that adds even more chaos and fun. Plan on playing this late into the night needless to say.

Fucking fuck. Completely sold out across Edmonton. Not just at Walmart either. EVERYWHERE.

Got it this morning on a whim. My area has been sold out but I walked just after the UPS guy dropped off their delivery and got the first one out of the box and the last guide.

Not gonna play for a while cause I got other matters to attend to.
