Speculate the Relocation (Kofi Kingston)

http://www.eueomghana.org/EN/Ghana_flag.gif
From Jamaicanmecrazy to Ghana-rea. Kofi Kingston was announced as being from Ghana, West Africa on Smackdown X, apparently packing up and leaving his longtime home in Jamaica. This doesn't make much sense as he does most of his wrestling in the United States. Is Kofi Kingston moonlighting as the Ghana Federation Champion? Has he fathered a child from Ghana? Was Kofi forced to flea after committing a crime in Jamaica? Only you can...

SPECULATE
THE
RELOCATION!!!

Kofi Kingston is the newest member of the embassy.

Afterlife 10-03-2009 04:13 PM

He totally banged a thirteen year old Jamaican chick.

Kofi Kingston, what do you know about shrimp cocktail?

Outsider 10-03-2009 04:28 PM

On a half related note, I always laughed when they announced Finley as being from 'Belfast, Ireland'.

Nicky Fives 10-03-2009 04:42 PM

I'm almost willing to bet that they changed it because of the 'stigma' associated with Jamaicans and their 'lifestyle'

Nicky Fives 10-03-2009 04:43 PM

and in case anyone didn't get that, I meant because they smoke pot, and pot is not PG-13

Savio 10-03-2009 04:53 PM

Why the fuck to west africa though? why not just Haiti?

Waylander 10-03-2009 04:57 PM

They're just keeping you on your toes.

Afterlife 10-03-2009 04:58 PM

"Haiti" sounds too much like "Hades" and we don't want people thinking he's Greek.

:shifty:

Sarkodie-Mensah was born in Ghana before his family moved to the United States in 1982. Coming from a family of intellectuals from near Kumasi in Ghana, he was expected to become a teacher like his grandfather.[7] He was a standout wrestler at Winchester High School in Massachusetts and enrolled at Boston College.[8]
i doubt he has even been to jamaica

Sixx 10-03-2009 05:17 PM

He stopped smoking pot, started doing hard drugs and got AIDS.

As to not confuse <s>wrestling fans</s> the wwe universe, the WWE has begun to relocate the following superstars to Ghana, Africa. Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, Cryme Tyme, E. Jackson, and Abraham Washington. Where as John Cena relocated to Compton

Sixx 10-03-2009 05:57 PM

Hahahaha, Cryme Tyme? Ghanian Boyz n the Hood?

Also... John Cena from Compton. Paaaaaaaaaaaaaah-lease.

thedamndest 10-03-2009 06:37 PM

Needs to be renamed Kofi Accra.

Johnny McNasty 10-03-2009 07:45 PM

I remember reading a news bit how Kofi's family where very upset with him being hailed from Jamaica and not his real home of Ghana. So maybe that had something to do with it.

Random thought: WWE should give Kofi a ruthless slum lord style gimmick whenever he turns heel. Make him the guy that everyone goes to to get something they need, but can't get ahold of themselves. Which he does, but he must be paid for it, or forces the superstar in need to do something for him. Then if they don't pay, he chops off limbs.

Anybody Thrilla 10-03-2009 07:56 PM

Pretty hilarious how they were calling him the first Jamaican superstar.

I'm sure Taker's family is upset with him being billed from Death Valley and not Texas.

legendkillerRKO 10-03-2009 09:30 PM

this is probably to prevent Kofi from taking time off to join the Jamaican bobsled team...feel the rythm! feel the rhyme! get ready to go! its wrestling time!

I'd mark out it Kofi were the newest member of the Embassy.

I always loved the Embassy Nana is the man.

And I love you too Barak Allah-bama.

Mr. Nerfect 10-03-2009 11:13 PM

They aren't billing Kofi as someone that relocated to Ghana, for the record. He is being touted as African-born, but he spent a lot of his time in Jamaica. It's a way of not completely retconning the Jamaica stuff.

To be honest, I feel that it is so Kofi doesn't become completely tied-down by the fun-loving, Jamaican charatcer. He's developed a bit more of a meanstreak recently, and not he doesn't need to put a voice on during his promos.

Kami Raki 10-04-2009 01:42 AM

Isn't he from Ghana?

Yeah. Both in real life and now in storylines. Jamaica was where he went for holidays. Yeah, don't think about it too much.

Taker wouldn't have been the first WWE superstar from Texas. Kofi however would be the first WWE Superstar from Ghana. I can see why his family could've been upset.

Triple Naitch 10-04-2009 05:08 PM

He caught Ghana-rea.

thedamndest 10-04-2009 05:21 PM

If he gets to the main event he will suddenly be from Miami, Florida.

Compton!

Triple Naitch 10-04-2009 05:46 PM

Straight outta Compton. A bad ass nigga named Kofi.

Sixx 10-04-2009 06:04 PM

Crazy motherfucker named Kofi sounds better, don't you think?

Triple Naitch 10-04-2009 06:06 PM

It does.

Afterlife 10-04-2009 06:53 PM

Just watched this, and I gotta say, I think King and Cole both do an alright job overall, but when they were saying "He's from Ghana, but he loves that Jamaican lifestyle," I was like, "Oh, come on, tell me another one". It just reeks of bullshit.

KYR 10-04-2009 10:54 PM

I hear they are going to begin announcing Santino Marella as a Canadian from now on as well. :shifty:

Mr. Nerfect 10-05-2009 11:26 AM

Recently there was a thread talking about how Kofi Kingston never seems like he could play a heel character. I don't know why, but as soon as I heard him announced from Ghana after previously knocking down The Miz during an interview earlier in the week, I could just see him being given an angry black man gimmick.

Anybody Thrilla 10-05-2009 12:25 PM

'Angry black man' hardly sounds like a gimmick.

thedamndest 10-05-2009 03:06 PM

Wikipedia makes Ghana sound like a pretty decent place. I don't know how angry he could be. Maybe because he has a trunk full of Kofi Kingston shirts with the Jamaican flag on them?

Which, as soon as there's another London-type event, will cause him to be de-pushed then quietly released.

By "released", you mean he'll be told to go to FCW and decide he's too good for that because he doesn't understand the procedure or care about the business so he'll just walk away in breech of contract and pursue a nonexistent career in acting? No way.

Also, an angle where he gets pissed that he was billed as a Jamaican instead of a proud...I guess, "Ghanan"...could be interesting.

RatedGSuperstar 10-06-2009 01:13 AM

Kofi needs to start dressing like Eddie Murphy in Coming to America to make this work.
