The Best Version of The Rock as a Heel?

Think back to 1997-1998, The Rock was in the Nation of Domination. Everyone was chanting "Rocky Sucks", and had his first feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Think back to late 1998 to early 1999, The Rock was the WWF champion, he was the leader of The Corporation, he did "The Corporate Elbow", had very memorable in ring promos, and back stage vignettes, and wore the $500 shirts.

Think back to 2003, The Rock wore leather pants and a leather vest, he sported a huge new tattoo, feuded with Hogan/Austin/Goldberg, and performed "Rock Concerts" on RAW, and had turned against the fans by going Hollywood.

Which was the best version of The Rock as a heel?

Juan 10-07-2009 04:52 AM

what is the deal with all the polls?

Waylander 10-07-2009 05:01 AM

The Hollywood version was very funny so he got my vote.

Just like making polls in the forums. Good way to get me thinking about the past in wrestling too.

Corporate. He was awesome back then and fans started to like him. I believe that's when most of his catchphrases developed.

Hollywood was funny and all, but he wasn't a real heel, not really a guy to hate but a guy to laugh at.

The Gold Standard 10-07-2009 08:54 AM

I loved Hollywood Rock.

Steveviscious89 10-07-2009 09:37 AM

Just FYI, the Hogan/Rock feud was actually a year prior to that. The Rock came back before Wrestlemania as a bad guy to hype his match with Austin.

ozzman6669 10-07-2009 09:40 AM

Always been a fan of the gang wars so I go with nation Rock

The Ravishing One 10-07-2009 10:13 AM

Hollywood

Yeah but for Hogan/Rock II he was a heel.

Dave Youell 10-07-2009 10:26 AM

Purely for the promo where he held a funeral for Austin the week after throwing the smoking skull belt into a river, only to reveal he was still wearing it under his suit. He was mad over then, and so freaking entertaining

Nicky Fives 10-07-2009 10:35 AM

Hollywood Rock..... Rock Appreciation Night and skits with Hurricane were classic

The Jayman 10-07-2009 10:47 AM

Hollywood

Lock Jaw 10-07-2009 12:00 PM

Corporate Rock was definitely the best.

Remember when he used to put on the commentator's headset during matches? Golden.

Johnny Vegas 10-07-2009 12:05 PM

Nation of Domination Rock was my favorite. All of the characters were awesome, but what really got people to hate the shit out of him was the NOD Rock.

Haze 10-07-2009 12:18 PM

I voted for the Corporate Champion.

CWK 10-07-2009 03:25 PM

I kinda figured it would be between corporate and the hollywood persona. Though I think the NOD heel persona is very underrated.

DAMN iNATOR 10-07-2009 03:29 PM

Went with Hollywood, easily.

CWK 10-07-2009 03:32 PM

The theme music that he had with the hollywood persona (The one at Wrestlemania 19), was awesome. Fit his persona to a "T". Arrogant, walk slow to the ring, just awesome.

DARTH GR8T ONE 10-07-2009 03:35 PM

As much as I liked the "leathered out" heel Rock of 2003, I must say that the best version of The Rock as a heel had to be Corporate Rock...As it's been said, He was magic on the mike...

CWK 10-07-2009 03:37 PM

I remember The Rock at Royal Rumble 1999 just beating the fuck out of Mankign by clobbering him like 50 times over the head with a chair. Damn.

DARTH GR8T ONE 10-07-2009 03:38 PM

As you can see in the video, nobody...and I mean....nobody.....can be a heel, but at the same have you begging for more as He runs through the coporation, 1, by damn 1.

The Jayman 10-07-2009 04:32 PM

He was "The People's Champion" and with the Hollywood persona he turned his back on the people. I think that is why this heel was better. and he played on it very well

Joesgonnakillyou 10-07-2009 05:04 PM

I voted for Nation rock based purely on one RAW segment where the nation locked DX in the back and assaulted Chyna but i think i should have voted for the corperate Rock now. Damn.

Hollywood Rock got too many cheers to be the best heel, but he was probably the most entertaining he ever was. Which is saying something.

Kami Raki 10-07-2009 06:41 PM

Corporate Rock was the better of the three choices. Everything seemed to click well....

CWK 10-07-2009 06:54 PM

I liked the RAW right before Survivor Series 1998, where The Rock gave Vince his first people's elbow. He went corporate at Survivor Series 1998. That moment on RAW was one of my all time favorite Rock moments. I wish I still had the video tape of it. Lost it a few years ago.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-07-2009 09:43 PM

Guess I'm in the minority (pun intended) on voting for the Nation Rock. Though this was a very hard descision since the Rock was great in all three. I wish I could have voted for all three but The Rock's first heel promo really stuck with me for all of these years.

"Rocky Maivia is a lot of things but sucks isn't one of them!"

DrCrawford 10-08-2009 02:47 PM

Corporate Rock. easily

Anybody Thrilla 10-09-2009 12:05 AM

HollyRock was the man. It made more sense than Hollywood Hogan, too.

Phenomenal 1 10-09-2009 12:10 AM

Corporate Champion Rock......fit well as a breath of fresh air with the McMahon vs Austin fued and helped elevate the rock to main event status....prior to aligning himself with the Corporation and winning the title in the screwjob tourney at Survivor Series: Deadly Games....he was just a mid-carder......and then overnight.....Rock vs Austin is born and and Rock becomes a household name in the WWE Universe

CSL 10-09-2009 12:13 AM

Why is it......that every post you make......comes across......like a really bad promo?

Phenomenal 1 10-09-2009 12:22 AM

i don't know....that wasn't my point....but i'l try and change it up....just for you
