Making Bragging Rights better...
Sorry to start another thread about Bragging Rights, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers as to SmackDOWN!'s team. So yeah, don't spoil anything here...
The 7 on 7 tag match isn't the WORST thing I've ever heard, but if the incentive to win the match is solely for 'bragging rights' over the other show, what should make me want to watch? Furthermore, what should make everybody even want to BE on the team? Actually, I could see wanting to be on the team, but why would they want to be on the team so badly that they would double-cross their own normal partners (i.e. Legacy)? It just doesn't make any sense. They need to put something actually on the line to make the tag match work. What? I dunno. Maybe the winning team could get the headline spot at Wrestlemania? Maybe if a champion gets pinned to lose the match, he loses his title as well? Maybe the winning team gets a draft pick of their choice? So many things they COULD do...but 'bragging rights' just doesn't really spark any interest for me. Thoughts? |
See this'd have a point if WWE actually cared about what internet fans had to say. I mean I agree with you 100 per cent, your ideas are sound, but what's the point of telling each other these ideas when we know it doesn't make a damned difference?
|
About as much point as us discussing who a better wrestler is between Bret Hart and Triple H. It's a wrestling discussion board, you see.

Glad someone posted this...
Well I personally would have a best of 7 series in matches World Heavyweight Champion (Undertaker) vs WWE Champion (Orton) Intercontinental Champion (Morrison) vs US Champion (Miz) Batista and Rey vs DX 5 vs 5 elimination Match and the captains each get one guy from ECW (get ECW on the show somehow) CM Punk, Kane, Jericho, Matt Hardy and William Regal vs John Cena, Big Show, Legacy and Christian then maybe do Ziggler vs MVP with winner getting a shot at either US or IC Title maybe a divas battle royal so its over quick then someone like Mark Henry, Masters, Swagger or MVP vs Finlay, Knox, R-Truth or Drew McCyntire just to get another 1 on 1 match |
If it was done Survivor Series style (which I don't think it is), surviving members are the number one contender/s for the respective brands World title at the next PPV. Gives them a chance to test somebody out in a 'headlining' role for a month or so and said title match wouldn't have to be the main event.

My only concern is they're booking a 14 man tag, a fatal four way, an iron man match, and three Raw vs. SD matches.....that's a 26 person card, at least, and it's ignoring ECW.
Do Raw and Smackdown have that many wrestlers? |
is that a serious question?

PROTIP: Skip Bragging Rights and wait for Survivor Series on the 22nd of next month.

So, yes. |
Well then yes, they do have that many wrestlers.

Thanks! |
I actually like the idea of doing the match just for pride. I hope/assume it will be a elimination type of match.
Why does everything have to be for a title or title shot? Just let them go at. |
I don't think the match will be elimination rules. I had the idea last night that the main event of Survivor Series could be the winning team at Bragging Rights all challenging for their brand's World Title in an Eight-Man Elimination Match. So we'd get something like Randy Orton vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Big Show vs. Jack Swagger vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Mark Henry. It's got a mixture of established main event talent, rising stars, and guys that would be fresh to the title picture.
SmackDown! could hypothetically offer something like The Undertaker vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kane vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Shad Gaspard vs. JTG vs. Eric Escobar vs. Drew McIntyre. But they have no chance of winning. That's similar to the idea CSLi Manning had. I really do like Thrilla's idea of the winning brand getting a draft pick of their choice (obviously not a champion). They could really shake things up by moving Shawn Michaels to SmackDown!. That'd never happen, but a man could dream. |

Maybe they could do a Survivor Series 2004 type stipulation. The winning team gets total control of the opposing brand. like say if team smackdown wins then each member will be a guest host on raw and if raw wins then each member will be gm for the night on fridays.....just a thought

That's actually the best idea yet. |

so what is everyone going to be doing whilst the 1 hour long cena raw retirement match is on?
|
Probably eating chicken wings or maybe even some crab legs. The possibilities are endless.

i was thinking of playing the ' john cena drinking game'
everytime cena repeats a move you take a drink eg. cena does a shoulder tackle the soulder tackle is now active and for every shoulder tackle he does from there on you take a drink. punches and kicks do not count |
What about the Randy Orton Rest Hold drinking game?
|
good god i would die of alcohol poisoning withing the first 5 minutes of the match

Technically, they weren't fighting each other. They just took turns trying to pin Cena when their partner wasn't immediately there, and then Cody took a decidedly quicker way of things. They're doing a lot of arguing now, but they weren't fighting. ...technically. More to the point, I guess it's a thing where "Our team beat SmackDown because we're superior athletes, and I was on the team, so I'm clearly of superior make." |
Well fine, they weren't fighting, but my original point was that it really wasn't anything to even argue about.

Technically. |
Technically, you're being a faggot. They weren't fighting at the beginning of the night, and the only goal from that match was to get on the stupid Raw team. You son of a bitch.
|
What I'm most interested in is discrepancies between the two teams. The Raw team is way more stacked, especially with Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar on the Smackdown team. I guess that's due to the Smackdown main event but still, kinda surprising nonetheless.

That's what I said. And yes, I am being a faggot. ...Technically. |
That's all I originally meant. You know as well as I do that 'fighting' and 'arguing' can be synonyms.
|
All I know is that they have to split DiBiase and Rhodes up as a team. Not even a feud against each other, just a run for each of them as singles wrestlers. I think DiBiase has significant upside.
|
I hear ya AT. The lack of logic in this is pretty gay...so it makes perfect sense in the WWE Universe I guess. I mean, being on the Raw team and getting a win at Bragging Rights over your partner on Smackdown is more bragging rights than being the Unified Tag Team Champions on both brands with said partner???
Lets see....weigh 4 belts versus one meaningless win at some stupid ass PPV with no incentive stipulations. In a year, noone will remember which brand won and WWE will rename the PPV anyway, so in any sane logical world, why would Jericho & Big Show even give a fuck? It's annoying that for as smart as Jericho's heel character is supposed to be, WWE writer monkeys would even make him fall for these DX "mindgames." Unless this leads to Big Show double crossing the Raw team and allowing Jericho to pin HHH, it's just stupid. |
