JR suffers Third Bells Palsy Attack . Off Smackdown

Jim Ross suffered his third Bell’s Palsy attack during a flight from Oklahoma to South Carolina on Monday night. Ross wrote the following on his website today: “I was able to reach WWE doctors who were in Jacksonville for Raw and they were able to call in the medicines I needed to get started on to slow down the paralysis. Now we just wait and see how the meds work and Mother Nature takes her course. My plans are to tape SD tonite working with the King and perhaps even Michael Cole so we can make sure we can do the job that the product and the talents deserve.”

UPDATE: Jim Ross just posted the following moments ago: This is an update on my previous blog. Not the news I wanted to share. It has been decided that I should not risk further issues by working tonight and I am in the process of arranging a flight back to OKC so I can see a neurologist on Wednesday. Life is about facing the challenges we encounter so I am going to do all I can to get better and back at the announce desk asap. I wish I had more answers but I simply don’t at this time. I want to be a part of Bragging Rights but only time will tell if that will be physically possible. My passion and love for the game is in tact but I have to do what’s best for my long term health. WWE has been tremendously supportive of my situatiion of which I am very grateful. Never count me out of the game as this isn’t the first mountain that I have had to climb. Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole will handle SD from Columbia. My thanks to every one for understanding this matter. Better days are on the horizon.

ya im the ryan clark of this forum . But this needed to be copy and pasted in my view .

SHUTUP TAKER707

Xero 10-20-2009 03:52 PM

:(

Londoner 10-20-2009 03:54 PM

Didn't know all that about JR, hope he pulls through this.

Shadow 10-20-2009 03:59 PM

I'm thinking it's time for Good Ol' JR to step down and allow a new voice to be heard.

DaVe 10-20-2009 03:59 PM

:( damn.

The Jayman 10-20-2009 04:05 PM

damn that sucks

it also sucks b/c we'll have the RAW announce team on SD

parkmania 10-20-2009 04:06 PM

So, where's this leave the SD! announce crew for Bragging Rights?

Too soon?

Xero 10-20-2009 04:13 PM

Too soon would be using this smiley: :wtf:

Fabien Barthez 10-20-2009 04:18 PM

Not bragging, that's for sure.

It was only last week he blogged about time off. Life can be cruel at times.

The Jayman 10-20-2009 04:24 PM

why can't they just use Matthews/Striker for SD

that probably is what will happen

The Jayman 10-20-2009 04:42 PM

god I hope so

Swiss Ultimate 10-20-2009 04:45 PM

So how long before Vince publicly humiliates JR again?

taker707 10-20-2009 04:46 PM

the week he comes back

Supreme Olajuwon 10-20-2009 04:49 PM

That sucks. JR might not be the best at painting a picture with his commentary anymore, but he's still a great hype man.

Godfather4Life 10-20-2009 05:28 PM

bring in the fink to do commentary!

parkmania 10-20-2009 05:30 PM

Booker "Black Snow" T, Scott "I don't remember what his name was" Steiner, and Kevin Nash for commentary!

Kevin Nash was always great on commentary...if you were a smark. :(

Like when Triple H broke character and said that Khali wasn't a very good wrestler (which I agree with) but is pretty stupid to say about a former World Champ. Sometimes it's okay to break character, like when someone is obviously injured or something unexpected happens but, it does take you out of the whole reality of it all.

agreed

Fabien Barthez 10-20-2009 06:05 PM

The day Lawler stopped being a heel ruined JR. It is crazy. The show get's more exaggerated, and the voiceovers adopt a more straight sports style.

And then everyone lambasts the standard of the commentators. WWE commentary is very heavily produced.

Theo Dious 10-20-2009 06:08 PM

I feel sorry for JR, but maybe it's time he takes the comfy retirement he has most definitely earned.

I find he's been really good on smackdown, he was terrible on RAW until he left.

He's really amazing when calling a great match, ie. any John Morrison match.

Triple Naitch 10-20-2009 07:20 PM

It would be awesome if they brought back JBL to work with Grisham.

Sovereigntywillpr 10-20-2009 07:22 PM

I always thought Nash (since he was in the NWO in WCW) would eventually end up being a WWE(then WWF) Anouncer.

On what grounds?

Lawler is much worse.

As much as I've not approved of JRs work of late, that comment was really fueled by the fact that he's given long decades of his life to the business, and if his disease is going to start acting up, it might be best for him to focus on getting and staying healthy at this point.

i'm inclined to agree.

parkmania 10-20-2009 08:57 PM

Before we send JR to the retirement home, how long ago was his last attack? Several years IIRC. If they're not happening more frequently than that, once he feels recovered, I fully expect to see/hear him return.

Gertner 10-20-2009 09:40 PM

That episode of Nash doing commentary on Thunder was amazing.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-20-2009 09:44 PM

They to put a good damn heel as a color commentator.

JR's pretty stiff.

Mr. Nerfect 10-20-2009 10:25 PM

I hope Jim Ross gets well soon. This isn't going to help him during contract negotiations later this year, though. Poor guy.

I absolutely hate them having the RAW guys in to commentate. It almost made sense when Michael Cole called SmackDown! with The Grish last week, as it could have been "RAW scouting SmackDown!." But it makes no sense for two RAW guys to have control over the entire show. Have Josh Mathews and Jerry Lawler call SmackDown!. Or even a three-man Mathews, Matt Striker & Jerry Lawler team.

Also, Lawler sucks ass as a face commentator. He might actually be entertaining tonight if he bitches about being on SmackDown!.

What qualifies you to say this though? Do you know anything about the condition?

Do some reading before you do the writing man, you have no clue what you are talking about.

DAMN iNATOR 10-21-2009 03:09 AM

Bummer, man. Was looking forward to seeing the old RAW announce team of J.R. and King have a little adventure, and seeing how it would turn out when they got the opportunity to both call a SD! instead...very disappointed.

Obviously, it's nothing J.R. himself could control, and I wish him only the speediest of recoveries. Now we have to put up with the awful combo of Cole and King this Friday.

In conclusion, I will be keeping J.R. and his close friends and family in my thoughts and prayers, and sincerely hope he will be able to be on commentary for Bragging Rights this Sunday, as I feel only he can truly influence the viewers strongly enough to make them want to pull for team SD!

I have been loving JR since he's been on SmackDown!, but if he does decide to retire, I'd be intrigued to see what happens with SmackDown!. Matt Striker would shine there. Or even if they just did a switcheroo between JR and Striker, and let JR really get some guys on ECW over, and help groom Josh Mathews further.

Yeah, you're right, I probably haven't known anyone for 12 years who has the condition, and I'm sure I never asked her anything about it. How silly of me.

Theo Dious 10-21-2009 06:32 PM

Or, to be less sardonic and a bit more brash about it: I've fucked someone with Bell's Palsy. What have you done?
