So I hear TNA has been good as of late?

Any truth to these rumors?

I work Thursday nights so I can't watch it, but I might try to start recording them if it's been any good.

erickman 10-24-2009 09:08 PM

thats what i love about dvrs, you should record it is worth it. thats what i do with raw ecw and smackdown. an you can ff through the crap.

Nicky Fives 10-24-2009 09:55 PM

TNA definately has had its moments the past couple of months, but usually the one good show they have, the next is usually a major let-down..... still better than some of the Raw's and ECW's......

TNA has been very good lately

Skippord 10-24-2009 11:50 PM

except for the cage match that ended in DQ

Xero 10-24-2009 11:52 PM

How does a cage match end in a DQ?

Xero 10-24-2009 11:52 PM

Answer: Russo booked it.

Kane Knight 10-24-2009 11:59 PM

This rumour pops up every month or two. It's usually false.

However, if you've got a DVR or VCR, why not just watch a couple eps and find out?

Skippord 10-25-2009 12:00 AM

the cage match is the worst thing to happen lately

terrible

Impeccable 10-25-2009 06:52 AM

Yeah, the finish to the cage match was horrible.

However, there are a lot of good things from TNA at the moment;

British Invasion
Homicide
Hernandez
Kevin Nash
Steiner owning in four way "full metal mayhem" ladder match last week at Bound for glory...including a frankensteiner from the top turnbuckle
The commentary is much better, with Tazz and Tenay
Womens division isn't awful like WWE
Developed tag team division
Kurt Angle vs AJ Styles on "Super Impact" was a good candidate for TNA match of the year

THe biggest problem I find watching it is that segments seem disjointed, and sometimes don't make sense as they are taken/filmed out of context/order.

Also, the endings to shows are invariably horrible. On Super Impact, the show ended with Sting making his way to the ring, stepped through the ropes and then----nothing. It ended. A lot of endings are an anticlimax...i.e. a great match as a main event, followed by an unrelated in ring interview by Kurt Angle or Eric Young.

Booker T has been horrible as of late...crashing other people's lines during segments, and just generally not looking like he cared...but he's gone now, so that's one problem resolved.

If TNA can resolve their production issues, it can be a good, well rounded product. Still not sure it would ever challenge WWE.

The DQ cage thing was done quite well I thought, they put over that the BI would do anything to keep the titles, and with the whole ref's taking the initiative thing recently, it made sense to me.

Hernandez is growing on me, I didn't like his singles push at first, but now I'm enjoying it a bit more.

I like how guys have more than one storyline going at once right now, which gives layers to where the show will go each week.

I love how right now there isn't one single guy who holds the whole show together like with WWE, there's legit 10 guys I could see with the title right now, so if things change (injuries) they've built up others to take the spot if needed.

The tag team wrestling actually means something, and they don't just split up teams when they have finished a big feud, they then re-build. The MCMG haven't done anything big for like a year, but they have always been given enough time to remain in people's thoughts and stay over, now it's their turn to get a spot.

Also, the way they build up new guys, Wolfe's debut was insane, I can't see WWE ever debuting someone killing their top guy on his first appearance, it make Desmond a big deal in 10 minutes of TV time with no previous build.

Just really good TV IMO

Mr. Nerfect 10-25-2009 09:29 AM

Yeah, TNA has been quite tolerable recently. I haven't regretted watching it when I do. Now that the problems are clearing up a bit, and the matches are really appealing (AJ vs. Daniels vs. Joe and Angle vs. Wolfe), I might actually get into things a bit more.

erickman 10-25-2009 10:26 AM

i am thinking that cage thing is to bring back earl hebner as a heel ref, kind of a montral screw job thing.

screech 10-25-2009 12:02 PM

I agree with Dave Youell and Impeccable.

Waylander 10-25-2009 04:09 PM

They have some really talented wrestlers that consistently put on excellent matches so if you can ignore the constant screwy endings with DQs, run-ins and or count outs then you'll likely love the show.

You know, there really isn't that many DQ's and Run in's at least not as many as people make out.

They seem to be cutting down on those recently.

A few months ago, more than half the matches were ended via DQ or run-in. They're still around, but not nearly as much now.

bound for glory the two main matches with morgan v angle and sting v aj were amazing. Impact was great. Tna is awesome underdog as of late.

Mr. Nerfect 10-26-2009 07:43 AM

It looks like the Turning Point card is shaping up to be something that I'd actually like to see. What, with AJ vs. Daniels vs. Joe, Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe and The Motor City Machine Guns challenging The British Invasion. Brutus Magnus is shaping up to be a fairly good, if still green, talent. Working with Doug Williams does a man miracles.
