It really is just an incredibly made movie. It gets this bad rap as being a chick flick. It's not. There's the romance, but the majority of that movie is a top notch thriller. It's obviously a fantastic story too. Even so, I don't see why it's become such a dirty word among people. It's become a social trend to hate the movie. I think in general movie fans have become more niche oriented. There are genre lines and perceptions people just won't cross. It's a shame really, because a lot of good movies don't get the credit they deserve. (this goes both ways, as certain dramas get refused by male audiences/fanboys, and science fiction/fantasy gets snubbed by "the academy") I guess that's just how it is now. Our generation has a large contingent who will insist that Titanic is a chick flick, but you'd never hear someone say that about Casablanca. |
