Best Three Movies: Part Nine

As Jeritron finalizes the work on the last page of his thesis, he recommends we take on a subject just as titanic as the one he has just finished:

Best 3 movies. Go.

I wanted to say Escape From New York, but he was "Other". I probably would have swapped out Aliens for that.

Yea, it's a fantastic movie. It's not the type of thing I watch all the time. It doesn't have the rewatchability of True Lies or T1, but it's a magnificent achievment.
It really is just an incredibly made movie. It gets this bad rap as being a chick flick. It's not. There's the romance, but the majority of that movie is a top notch thriller. It's obviously a fantastic story too.
Even so, I don't see why it's become such a dirty word among people. It's become a social trend to hate the movie.

I think in general movie fans have become more niche oriented. There are genre lines and perceptions people just won't cross. It's a shame really, because a lot of good movies don't get the credit they deserve. (this goes both ways, as certain dramas get refused by male audiences/fanboys, and science fiction/fantasy gets snubbed by "the academy")

I guess that's just how it is now. Our generation has a large contingent who will insist that Titanic is a chick flick, but you'd never hear someone say that about Casablanca.
