Seriously, has any wrestler ever controlled a crowd for 7 years....every word....wow

Stone Cold has absolutely zero on The Rock when it comes to controlling a crowd.

...please. You can argue that you do or don't think he's better than or as good as the Rock, but the idea that he has "zero" on him is pretty dumb.

I personally hated the WHAT? promos.

I hated WHAT when he was a heel and it was supposed to be a dickish thing to do. I loved the crowd interplay WHAT segments though, those were great.

Anyways the Rock probably learned how to make the crowd say IS COOKIN by watching Austin make the crowd say "CAUSE STONE COLD SAID SO!"

I want a hige fan, but name one guy today that can control a crowd like that....or ever

It's hard for me to choose between those two, but The Rock was at least just as good as far as getting the crowd reaction is concerned.

Eddie Guerrero.

Eddie was great but he was no Rock or Austin.

As far as guys who could control a crowd... Flair, Hogan, Piper etc.

The What promos got annoying fast.

I'd put the Rock above Austin in ability to control the crowd. I've also always thought HBK was gold on the mic back in the day.

HBK was not that great on the mic I don't know what you're talking about.

He was good... very good, but it was his ring work and charisma in the ring that did the talking. He does not hold a candle to the true greats on the mic.

Only others I can think of would be Vince McMahon post-Montreal but mostly as a heel character and Hogan but not as great as The Rock or Jericho (WWE era) in terms of variety in promos.

Uh, not really. THe crowd has turned on the rock and booed him when he was supposed to be a face on numerous occasions.

Yeah, outside of Canada in 1997, I don't think Austin has ever been booed as a face, and even as a heel he still got strong pops.

The only ones today that I can think of outside The Rock and Austin are DX

Forgot how good Austin's promos were, this is def one of my favourites.

See nowadays DX tries to be funny and quirky... key word being tries. Rock and Austin just were funny. And when they needed to be serious, they were serious.

I was going to bring this up. When there was a crowd that was against The Rock -- they were fucking against The Rock. I can't remember people ever turning on Austin. Even Hogan has had some problems with that. Austin always had the audience right where he wanted them -- on his side.

I honestly think Austin could get a crowd to cheer him over Hogan or Rock.

I dont know the crowd only really turned on the Rock when he was wrestling. As soon as he got on the mic they were with him.

Seriously? Exact opposite for me. I remember the promo when he first started doing the 'what' thing. He had the whole alliance team in the ring and was basically telling them that they all sucked. I feel like he started it on Tazz.

Amazing.

It got annoying when the crowd would start doing it all the time. They still do it sometimes to this day, which is pretty remarkable, yet still annoying.

Watch the promo where The Rock delivered a eulogy for Steve Austin if you want to hear some epic heel heat on Rocky. Amazing.

I think Foley could control a character better than Austin and The Rock.

It's not because he was more charismatic then the two of them (which I personally think he is) it's because Austin was so huge that he could never get the fans to hate him, and The Rock was so huge that he could only get the fans to hate him when he was up against Austin or Hogan.

Mick Foley wasn't handicapped by being that insanely over so he was able to get you to love him any time he wants, and hate him any time he wants. Just look at his work with TNA right now. One week he can have the fans adore him then next week they;re totally hate him. Foley is so good a swaying the fans, I can't think of anyone equal to him on the regard of making them hate you and love you in such a short span... Possibly Piper.

Hogan was amazing no doubt, but he didn't "school" the rock. For one thing they were in Toronto, bizarro world... another thing is it's not like they want mono-e-mono in promo form. Hogan had not competed at wrestlemania in years...

It wasn't schooling the Rock, it was just the fans acknowledging Hogan's legacy.

lol he shouldn't have been a face though. that's unprofessional. But he's Hogan
