He shouldn't have used the word "fag" like that, he should have known people like GLAAD would get offended. People like the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation never take context into consideration. All they think is that saying "fag" in such an off-handed way makes it easier to say in a hateful way for others. It would be like him calling the guy "nigger" or "kike" either of those would be offensive, and as a public figure Chris Jericho should know better.

That all being said I'm sure Chris Jericho is not a homophobe or a biggot. The context of his words make it fairly obvious that he was just joking and being playful.

Like someone else said, stand-up comedians and just people in general say stuff like that all the time in the same joking manner as Jericho did with no backlash. There's no reason he should be held to a higher regard.

That being said name me one comedian, as famous or more than Chris Jericho, in the last 10 years that called someone a fag (not that the word fag was in their act, but actually called someone a fag) and didn't get backlash from the media for it?

I know the sensetivity to words is a little silly at times but words do have power and the word fag being said by non-Gays is hateful at times.

Yes but that's why I qualified 10 years, things have gotten very serious about slandering gays (not saying anyone is slandering gays) over the past 10 years. Back in the mid-80's making gay jokes was far more accepted.
