Scariest film you've ever seen

I am on a big horror kick right now, watched the happening this weekedn and the orphanage tonight. I liked both of them, but I want something even scarier, I prefer something recent, but whatever.

But I don't just want a scary film, I want a good film, that's also hella scary,

Don't give me the classics either. I've seen them, unless it's like a cult classic that I may not have heard of or something.

muffalufagus 11-10-2009 06:30 AM

you seen wizard of gore? that movie is bad ass.

IrishBulldozer 11-10-2009 08:34 AM

Big horror movie fan. My favorites in the genre are the zombie films. Anyways, back on point. No movies "scare" me except the ones like Paranormal Activity, American Haunting ect... where you see a person who can have NO control over a situation. The kind with hauntings & ghosts. While I get a thrill watching dumb blondes running upstairs instead of out the front door....The only films that really made me creeped out are the ones I mentioned above. I have very thick skin except when it comes to those "is it or is it not real" phenomena movies.

I recommend:
American Haunting with Donald Sutherland
Paranormal Activity
Blair Witch Project

And even the Faces of Death movies, while not "horror" there is some scary and gross stuff on those videos. Like I said, I have a thick skin so it takes true life decapitations to make me cringe.

PorkSoda 11-10-2009 09:11 AM

I dont know of any movies, but Clox, your sig with the cat and dog is too funny.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-10-2009 09:36 AM

Ringu

LuigiD 11-10-2009 10:10 AM

You know, I don't find "horror" movies scary. I started watching them at a young age because my mom is a huge buff. I have seen all the classics from Phantasm to Hellraiser. To me, a scary movie is something like Requiem for a Dream. Just about all the ways life can go wrong.

The Jayman 11-10-2009 11:57 AM

Most of the Japanese horror movies scared the shit out of me. The American versions of these films weren't really scary at all.

Examples:

Ringu - scary as hell The Ring - not so much
Ju-On - great movie The Grudge - shit

I can't follow Japanese movies at all, because all Asians look alike and I have no idea what the fuck is going on.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-10-2009 01:04 PM

Polish men and women all look a like. i.e. both hairy beasts! :p

OssMan 11-10-2009 01:09 PM

I think I need to watch Ringu again because I watched it while creating TPWW Jeopardy which distracted me from the subtitles.

They use only 1 Asian person to play all roles which in turn saves them more money b/c they don't have to spend more on over paid actors/actresses

GD 11-10-2009 01:33 PM

It was a dark monsoon afternoon when Me and my cousin were all alone at home watching HBO. We were watching the Ring and for the first time in my life I was scared to death when that little girl came out of the tv. I couldn't sleep that night.

The Jayman 11-10-2009 01:57 PM

just imagine if other women came out of your tv :naughty:

El Fangel 11-10-2009 02:10 PM

If you thought The Happening was scary, I would recommend The Village and Signs.

GD 11-10-2009 02:20 PM

Was "The Happening" any good? Is it worth a watch?

Sixx 11-10-2009 02:30 PM

I couldn't believe how stupid was the plot of The Happening, really.

And I thought The Village was overrated.

GD 11-10-2009 02:33 PM

Since Sixx said it, I am not watching it.

El Fangel 11-10-2009 02:38 PM

M Night Shitallon really cant make movies. Avoid anything to do with him whatsoever.

Kalyx triaD 11-10-2009 02:45 PM

The last movie to legit creep me out was The Ring. Honorable mentions: Descent, Alien, and The Mist (recent).

Signs was good. So was Unbreakable and Sixth Sense. Air Bender looks nice as well.

Hanso Amore 11-10-2009 02:47 PM

The Strangers in the theater was creepy as fuck

GD 11-10-2009 02:48 PM

Sixth Sense happens to be my favorite Bruce Willis movie (that I have seen) right above Pulp Fiction.

Sixx 11-10-2009 02:51 PM

M. Night Shyamalan wrote the screenplay for Stuart Little. Wow.

Indifferent Clox 11-10-2009 02:54 PM

I didn't think the Happening was scary, just really well done. I thought it was a more mature film and the charecter development between the wife and husband was great.

Nowhere Man 11-10-2009 03:12 PM

High Tension is a great one, although the 'twist' ending is pretty lame.

Stickman 11-11-2009 12:19 PM

The Ring and Paranormal Activity are two that give me the creeps.

El Vaquero de Infierno 11-11-2009 12:38 PM

Kane Knight's sex tape

D Mac 11-11-2009 02:16 PM

Ready 2 Rumble

Shaggy 11-12-2009 04:28 AM

The Orphanage

Droford 11-12-2009 11:12 PM

Feast
Rest Stop

Feast was overall better movie but Rest Stop was creepier. Dont even bother with either movies sequels.

Good News Gertie 11-13-2009 02:12 AM

To say the man has no talent is a bit much. The Sixth Sense, while overrated, is iconic. Unbreakable was fairly cool, and Signs was actually a good movie. The Village is a piece of shit, though. Pure shit. I don't know how you can have a cast that talented, and make a film so boring. And then it depends on its twist -- which is just so shitty. Lady in the Water was retarded, as well. The Happening was not great, but it was no as bad as some of his other shit.

Good News Gertie 11-13-2009 04:09 AM

I liked Lady in the Water. :$

def was not scary though.

Savio 11-14-2009 12:21 PM

Paranormal Activity was not scary.

Blind Dead series is the main one I reccomend. I believe it's in Spanish. But it does have subtitles. It's a good time. Was drunk one night and watched the whole series. Good times.

Maybe not so much horror, but definitely check out the Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police. Both are so over the top violent that they're a good time.

Tazz Dan 11-15-2009 03:12 AM

I honestly think the only movie thats ever scared me is What Lies Beneath. And that wasn't even that scary. :(
