http://www.gerweck.net/news/1258067919.shtml

apparently Sean Mooney was at WWE Headquarters today.

Juan 11-12-2009 07:45 PM

YES!!

Theo Dious 11-12-2009 07:47 PM

Meh, he was probably just picking up a royalty check for some DVD he appeared on.

DaveWadding 11-12-2009 07:51 PM

lol Sean Mooney.

True Brit Grit 11-12-2009 08:00 PM

Almost 20? Like, 16?

taker707 11-12-2009 09:36 PM

Gerard 11-12-2009 09:37 PM

Mooney? last i heard of him after he left the wwf he practically denied ever working there. :wtf:

Jordan 11-12-2009 10:26 PM

I really doubt for any reason they would ever bring him back, he was horrible.

#1-norm-fan 11-12-2009 11:59 PM

I was hoping it would be Todd Pettengill. :(

Fabien Barthez 11-13-2009 12:09 AM

Is it worth noting that Mooney is from Pheonix?

weather vane 11-13-2009 12:11 AM

Um Sean Mooney was awesome. Whoever thinks different is an idiot.

Fabien Barthez 11-13-2009 12:12 AM

Not really...he works for the local FOX Sports station here (does the college sports show)...Every time I see him I laugh because I grew up with him in the WWF and now flatly denies ever working there.

Mooney was the Tony S. of the WWF.

He hated wrestling, made a great amount of money working for a wrestling company, left said company, denies his history with said company, and wants nothing to do with the sport / business he is best known for being associated with.

NeanderCarl 11-13-2009 06:17 AM

You say that but didn't he record an interview with them a few years ago? I seem to remember a few talking heads with him a couple of years back that were clearly new, maybe for a Hall of Fame package or Raw highlight show or the ilk.

NeanderCarl 11-13-2009 06:27 AM

If they are unhappy with the current announcers, there are much better proven announcers, both play-by-play and colour, to turn to ahead of the bland Sean Mooney.

Hows about reaching out to Jesse Ventura, Paul Heyman, Jim Cornette, Terry Funk, Todd Pettengill, Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson, Mark Madden, Ted DiBiase Sr, Bruce Pritchard, Raven, Stan Lane... hell, give Charlie Minn a call. Anyone but Sean Mooney. I guess they could always bring in his identical twin Ian Mooney.

Plus, they already have Joey Styles, Michael Hayes, Dusty Rhodes, Pat Patterson and Howard Finkel working with them.

Hell, Bobby Heenan would do a better job than Mooney and he can barely talk. If he could talk, he'd do a better job than anyone in the company.

The Mackem 11-13-2009 07:22 AM

I remember Mooney more as a backstage interviewer than a commentator. Did he use to do WWF Superstars, primetime, Saturday Night or whatever the shows were called back then?

Schlomey 11-13-2009 08:02 AM

I grew up on Mooney. I bet he would make a great GM. He was my favorite Pencil Necked Geek.

XCaliber 11-13-2009 11:11 AM

I rather liked Mooney back in the day it's too bad Pat Patterson had to screw it all up for him.

Loose Cannon 11-13-2009 11:12 AM

Mooney was great, but he was only great doing the updates on the Superstars/Challenge shows. I thought that was the perfect role for him

Yeah i remember, it was the 15th anniversary of RAW.

Anybody Thrilla 11-13-2009 11:47 AM

Hopefully this means the return of Supertape on Colisseum Home Video.

kareru 11-13-2009 12:10 PM

He usually did play-by-play with Lord Alfred Hayes on colour. Did Superstars on occasion, if Vince wasn't around for some reason. Quite often commentated on the 'repeat' matches on shows like All-American where a match would be repeated from Superstars or Challenge but with a new VO.

And of course was regularly the commentator (along with Hayes) for the Coliseum Video exclusive matches.

He also hosted Prime Time for a while, and the Update and Event Center segments of the weekly shows.

Xero 11-13-2009 01:56 PM

Also, remember when Jerry Jarrett was in WWE HQ?

NeanderCarl 11-13-2009 02:09 PM

Yeah, we ended up with Vladimir Koslov.

CWK 11-14-2009 02:24 AM

Sean Mooney was awesome, if I remember right, he came in right after Greg DeGeorge left in like 88 or 89. Mooney has truly got that announcers sounding type of voice.

Vastardikai 11-14-2009 02:12 PM

The Event Center was my favorite part of Superstars back in the day.

NeanderCarl 11-14-2009 06:46 PM

Craig DeGeorge

yea, that's what is was. It was like SportsCenter of wrestling highlighting all the weeks past happenings

NeanderCarl 11-20-2009 05:17 PM

You're thinking of Update... "from the pages of the WWF Magazine!"

The Event Center was announcements, interviews and cards for upcoming house shows.

Phenomenal 1 11-20-2009 05:25 PM

I love how someone who is a former employee of WWE shows up at their headquarters and then all of a sudden dirt sheets report that they are returning to the company....anyone ever possibly think they could be interviewing him for a DVD, picking up a royalty check, or even being used as a consultant on something...

Phenomenal 1 11-20-2009 05:27 PM

course remember....if Ryan Clark says it, Ryan Clark posts it, Ryan Clark gives his opinion on it...it has to be true.....oh its damn true....yeah freakin right!!!

I agree with your premise, but are most of those handled in-house?

Anyway, I was hoping it was JR.
