Who do you consider among the best technical wrestlers in the US/World today
A lot of the old favourites Bret Hart, Benoit, Malenko, Hennig, Eddie Guerrero etc are simply not with us or retired. If you had to do a who's who of technical wrestling who would you pick?
Technical wrestlers tend to be, IMO, the story tellers, with a vast array of; holds, moves and counters in their arsenal. They can have an amateur wrestling background, be trained by the best or simply have many years experience. My list would have to include the likes of: - Kurt Angle - Bryan Danielson - Shawn Michaels - Chris Jericho - William Regal - Nigel McGuinness - Dave Finlay Anybody within the WWE, TNA, ROH, indies, Japan etc you would include? |
how much would you want to see Kurt Angle vs Bryan Danielson?
that would be awesome anyways - Mike Quackenbush - Delirious - Chris Hero - Naruki Doi - Lance storm |
I don't know any indie guys or a lot about TNA so this might be a shit list in comparison to some of you guys, but here goes:
Kurt Angle Chris Jericho William Regal Nigel "wolf" McGuinness Colt Cabana Oh and Lance Storm is retired and only wrestles on special events.....If he can be considered a worker TODAY then add him to my list as well. Love that bland fucker. |
I think it's definitely:
Kurt Angle Bryan Danielson Christian (I think he's the best wrestler pound for pound in the WWE) Shawn Michaels Chris Jericho Shelton Benjamin William Regal (I love the British style Nigel McGuinnes Finlay If Benoit was still alive, he'd be at the top of the list. |
I haven't seen any of Shelton Benjamin's work lately. He always came across as a guy with the abilities but not quite at top technician level, definitely had the potential though. As he progressed much in the last few years? Christian is a good one, Lance Storm would be a definite if he was active. Another name not mentioned - Jerry Lynn could be classed in this as well, I guess

Mike Quackenbush
Delirious Lance storm Johnny Saint Cabana Angle MCMG (seriously, watch their match against each other, great tech stuff) |
Angle and Regal

I was thinking about this the other day, and I really feel like the definition of "technical" wrestler has changed over the last decade and a half or so. When I think of a "technical wrestler" the people that come to mind for me as the epitome of this are:
Nick Bockwinkel Dory Funk Jr Bret Hart And to a lesser extent, Chris Beniot and Dean Malenko. While I think both were very technically proficient, they integrated more of the 90's high impact Japanese style into their respective movesets. Nowadays, I think the best technical wrestlers are: Bryan Danielson Kurt Angle William Regal And there are probably some more I can add to the list, but these three come to mind first. |
I don't think any come close to Bryan Danielson or Kurt Angle, just don't know which one is better than the other.
|
Has anyone made the Khali joke yet?
|
Kurt Angle is a proven success on a higher level. We'll see what Danielson brings to the bigs.
|
Kurt Angle
Chris Jericho Christian Edge William Regal and from the past, everyone pretty much has been mentioned..... glad to see even my main man Lance Storm has been getting respect |

Besides the guys mentioned (specifically Angle, Jericho, Christian, Regal and Benjamin) I'd have to mention Charlie Haas. He doesn't have much success, but he does what he does well.
I also think that Paul London's technical skills are really quite high. The man can tell a fantastic story when he needs to. He's far from a "spot monkey." |

I can't mention anyone that hasn't already been mentioned. |

And incidentally, a spot monkey is defined by what he does, not by what he's capable of.
|
i think it' safe to say that the general consensus is that Kurt Angle and Bryan Danielson are the best wrestlers in the world as far as skill goes its a shame that we wont be able to see them wrestling each other anytime soon, its a smark dream match.
