College Basketball 2009-2010 Thread

starting it up.

The top recruit in the country just comitted to Carolina.

Michigan State definately a team to watch. I'm pretty sure they brought back almost everyone from last year.

Go Orangemen, Charlotte 49'ers and Iona Gaels (the last two ain't going anywhere)

RP 11-14-2009 09:15 AM

ROBBIE HUMMEL IS A GOLDEN GOD!

Also, me and my best friend bought season tickets to Butler basketball. They have a Final Four caliber team. Tons of experts picking them. I wont be able to make every game though so i'm selling like half of them.

RP 11-14-2009 09:17 AM

And the reason why we didnt get Purdue season tickets was because ..

1) they were sold out

and

2) Butler is like a 10 minute drive from where I live. Purdue is about an 80 minutes or so.

BUT PURDUE BASKETBALL WILL DOMINATE THIS YEAR! ROBBIE HUMMEL IS A GOLDEN GOD AND CHRIS KRAMER WILL BE PLAYING PRISON RULES!

Loose Cannon 11-14-2009 09:25 AM

Michigan is back to being ranked

RP 11-14-2009 09:32 AM

Big Ten is stacked

No doubt the best conference in the country.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-14-2009 12:29 PM

Ohio State playing Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse is going to be nuts.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-14-2009 02:54 PM

UNC's non conference schedule is ridiculous. Playing at Ohio State, at Kentucky, vs. Texas in Dallas, and Michigan State.

OssMan 11-14-2009 03:10 PM

Don't even know anything about NC State any more

OssMan 11-14-2009 03:11 PM

GEORGE MASON

Supreme Olajuwon 11-14-2009 03:24 PM

Dayton vs. Creighton right now. Pretty good game plus it rhymes. Flyers are loaded this season. Chris Wright is a baller.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-17-2009 06:40 PM

Today is 24 hours of college basketball on ESPN. They've got basketball on all day. They had a 6 AM tipoff this morning for Monmouth and St. Peters.

Temple is up on Georgetown right now

Much better than just doing cupcakes for record padding like Florida did 2 years ago (had an RPI in the mid 200s) just to try and sneak into the Tournament. If UNC wins all or 3 of them and have a great conference record, they will end up as the overall #1 seed. It also helps their RPI in case they start dropping a few games since those 4 teams are strong enough to balance out a few weak losses.

SammyG 11-17-2009 07:45 PM

This 24 hour marathon on ESPN is sick. Duke just killin' it right now.

Emperor Smeat 11-17-2009 08:03 PM

I think this is 2nd year of ESPN doing the 24-hour college hoops day and its been one of their best ideas ever. Lots of good matchups and shocked at how Kentucky barely got away with a win.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-17-2009 08:11 PM

Duke is just pummeling Charlotte. This is hard to watch. Sorry LC.

SammyG 11-17-2009 08:14 PM

That UCLA game was nuts too. UCLA sucks.

RP 11-17-2009 08:18 PM

Yah, ESPN knows College Basketball for sure. I love the 24 hour idea. I wish they did this once a week.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-17-2009 08:40 PM

I don't think ESPN could ruin college basketball if they tried. It's really just the perfect sport and the perfect atmosphere.

SammyG 11-17-2009 08:54 PM

k, is it March Madness yet?

Supreme Olajuwon 11-17-2009 09:17 PM

Listening to Bobby Knight call games really makes me want to play basketball.

Loose Cannon 11-17-2009 10:11 PM

This 24 Hour thing is definately amazing. lovin it. Fucking Duke slaughtered Charlotte today though.

BCWWF 11-18-2009 01:53 PM

College sports are always a little hard to get into early on because of the excess of terrible non-conference match ups.

Emperor Smeat 11-18-2009 05:58 PM

As well as too many sports are occurring at same time College basketball starts such as college football nearing the end of the season and starting the bowls, NFL in the middle of its season, NBA still early in its season, and toss up between NHL and MLS/Soccer occurring at same time.

Nothing beats College Basketball during the Tournament month though, especially the 1st week with a ton of games played.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-19-2009 12:41 AM

I dunno what the fuck you people are talking about but tomorrow features 3 (THREE) games between top 25 teams. North Carolina vs. Ohio State, Georgia Tech vs. Dayton, and California vs. Syracuse

RP 11-19-2009 10:22 AM

Man, Seth Davis has the Bulldogs down as a Final 4 pick too. Butler is stacked this year foreal. I think Butler and Purdue could make it to the Final Four in Indy this year. And you bet i'll be getting tickets to that shit.

Anyone else planning on going to the Final 4 this year? We should do a meetup.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-19-2009 10:44 AM

Was thinking about it. It's only 2 hours to Indy. I don't really have an excuse not to go.

RP 11-19-2009 10:46 AM

It would be a weird duo

I am admittedly not anymore a general fan of college basketball, in that it doesn't excite me to watch teams that I don't have a vested interest in at this point in the season. I follow Mizzou, and now that I live there again I follow Minnesota as well. But Mizzou opened the season against Tennessee-Martin. You've got to be pretty hardcore to get into that.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-20-2009 10:19 AM

I guess it's easier to be a college basketball junkie down here. We've got Cincinnati, Xavier, Dayton, Ohio State, Miami OH, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, and Butler all within a 2 hour drive.

Supreme Olajuwon 11-20-2009 10:20 AM

BTW 3 more top 25 matchups today

Dayton vs. Villanova
Syracuse vs. North Carolina
Ohio State vs. California

McLegend 11-20-2009 09:40 PM

Yay St. Joe's

ClockShot 11-20-2009 10:45 PM

O-Men knocked off the Tar Heels today.

They're looking like this year's Pittsburgh for the Big East.

The Gold Standard 11-21-2009 02:52 AM

SYRACUSE BABY!!

ORANGEMAN!!

Loose Cannon 11-21-2009 12:36 PM

MICHIGAN STATE FOR NATIONAL CHAMPS, BABY!:D

Oh, and also LC, we are definitely not returning everyone from last year's team, and we are decidedly smaller, which is going to make defense somewhat more of an issue this year for us, particularly rebounding, as we found out against upset-minded Gonzaga the other day. The one guy I can think of off the top of my head, and he was huge, both in-game and IRL from last year was Goran Suton. There's a few others who aren't here from last year's team, but I feel as though anyone could look for themselves on our team's website and see who we are and are not returning.

RP 11-23-2009 05:10 PM

If Purdue vs Tennessee is not any channel tonight, i'm going to be irate. How the hell can that big of a game not be on TV.

RP 11-23-2009 05:11 PM

rumor has it that it will be on Fox Sports. But comcast doesnt list it.

RP 11-24-2009 01:11 AM

Wooo

Loose Cannon 11-24-2009 01:40 AM

that was a horrendous shot at the end by Tenessee. You're wide open and you can't even hit the fucking rim?

RP 11-24-2009 01:52 AM

One of the best games of the season and ESPN has no coverage of it whatsoever.
