so...should I read the comic series now?

Ending of the movie is better imo.

I haven't read the comic, but I've heard the ending is just ridiculous.

i read the comic before the movie and enjoyed it better that way. movie ending was much better than the book's.

i'm the same as the genius. i don't hate or even dislike the book's ending, but the movie just feels more natural, more like what should have happened.

I liked it...luckily I had a lot of free time today so it wasn't a big deal that it was extremely long. I watched the Director's Cut too so I knew what I was in for.

My favorite comic to date is the graphic novel version of The Crow.

I'm also a big fan of The Preacher.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I get what they were sort of going with for both endings, but I feel that the movie's ending just stemmed from the plot and the whole "Cold War" fear more naturally.

Congrats. In my opinion you have watched/read them in the correct order.

I was told ny a friend to read the graphic novel first as it would "enhance" the film. It didn't. Instead of just enjoying the film I found myself watching it as an adaptation, almost like checking off what had been replacated direct from the book or been omitted.

I also agree that the film ending was far better than the GN.

I am confused about one thing.

The film is good, and the comic is good. I watched the film first and then read a friend's copy of the comic, which I enjoyed for different reasons. In my opinion, the best part of the comic is the additional notes on the characters such as Rorschach's pyschological records or exerts from the original Nite Owl's book.

While the film is fun to watch, it has less depth to it but I guess it's more about style than substance anyway.

In the special edition (which you get 10 bucks off if you get the dvd now) has the dark freighter Comic interwoven into the film, plus an hour long documentary of under the hood. plus the entire motion comic!

There is one thing that I will never understand about the movie: why leave the story of Rorshach's mask off the film? would have taken..1-2 minutes more to explain? maybe a little more? everyone always asks me "what is the deal with the mask?"

I never read the comic but I was so excited for the movie.

I didnt catch it in theaters but I did rent it on DVD.

I dont know if it just didnt hit me or if I just couldnt get into it but I was wanting to turn it off about 30-45 minutes into it. I honestly pushed myself through the movie hoping it would get better for me and I just never got into it.

I know that the movie is obviously not bad because 9 out of every 10 people just love the film. It was just one of the movies that I didnt get into.

It was one of those films meant to be watch at the cinema. I was lucky enough to see it at the IMAX - although I don't think I'll ever recover from being confronted with the 20 foot high blue cock belonging to Dr Manhattan.

if you see the watchmen and all you are left with is the searing image of a man's cock, you may have not quite understood the plotline.

Doesn't matter how good the plot is, when you've got a big blue cock on an imax, it can kind of stay with you.

My problem with the blue cock was the reverse of most people's problem. Like ok, they showed his big cock no problem. But then when he became super giant size, he was wearing underwear. I want to see the really giant size blue cock. Now that is the money shot. Like when he was fighting the army of men, imagine you were one of those men in that army and a big floppy blue cock was starring you down.

The Movie ending ties things together well.

It makes more sense from a storytelling perspective. I mean, why introduce a silly and arbitrary element when you can give an important character better closure and a more purposeful arch?

I prefer that Manhattan actually sacrifices something, and his presence on Earth has a lasting meaning, rather than him just taking a galactic vacation for shits and gigs.
