I never got why everyone always said Doane was the best of the bunch. I always thought Jeter was leagues ahead of him.

Yeah, Jeter should have been a star. I loved watching his old OVW stuff with Matt Cappotelli.

TerranRich 11-22-2009 12:37 AM

I haven't forgotten that Dolph is a former Spirit Squad member, but I hadn't thought about it for a LOOONG time. I guess that means WWE is doing a good job of pushing him as somebody "new".

GD 11-22-2009 12:51 AM

I loved Kenny Dykstra. But he wanted out :-\

the 2 out of 3 falls match was an amazing blow off to their feud as well.

I loved the concept behind The Spirit Squad. Well, not so much the cheerleader bit as the whole "young guys who stick together and help each other out" mentality. It was later re-used for The New Breed, much more seriously. Ironically, Elijah Burke, the New Breed's leader was actually meant to be part of The Spirit Squad, too.

Johnny Jeter reminds me so much of Chris Jericho. Just the way they move around the ring -- I'm sure that Jericho would be one of Jeter's influences. I'd love to see Jayden Jeter (or whatever they were calling him during dark matches before he left the company) and Lance Cade team up as Jericho's henchmen.

Kenny Dykstra was also really talented. It's a shame he apparently had an attitude problem. Hopefully as he grows up, he learns to fucking keep his head in. The dude is still only 23 years old. If he became the WWE Champion tomorrow, he'd be the youngest guy ever to do it. Hopefully he can work his way back into the WWE. He'd be a great fit for the ECW brand.

Mike Mondo was far from a ring genius, or anything, but he was sooooo into the whole thing. He went out there and made sure he was noticed. The dude allegedly has problems with alcohol, but he's also still young (26). Hopefully he can get his shit together and end up somewhere.

Nick "Mitch" Mitchell was definitely the least talented of the lot. He's also surprisingly old. He's older than Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy and MVP.

You know - as annoying as the Spirit Squad were, they were actually way over with the fans...and had DISTINCT personalities. Whether we want to admit it or not, the Spirit Squad were actually one of the most successful gimmicks in the WWE over the past 7 years.

Yet everyone forgets Nick Nemeth....

How? HOW?!?!

Spirit Squad were the best thing on Raw at that time IMO. They had so much energy and were annoying/arrogant etc that they were awesome to watch. I miss those days. :(

Anybody Thrilla 11-23-2009 12:16 PM

The trampoline spots were worth the price of admission alone.
