Forgot all about automatic renewal, it renewed last Saturday but my card didn't have enough money on it. Got an email saying renew was successful. But my card is showing it wasn't charged. Checked my other account and it wasn't charged either. So it must be their computer thought it went through when it acctually didn't. Still showing gold on my account and renewal date of Nov. 2010.

Same thing happened to me. Thought it was awesome until they figured it out and shut my account down. Bullshit was they shut me down after I had closed my account at the bank and didn't have a credit card, and they would only let me pay them for the missed payment with a credit card. After a couple of weeks and some angry(yet fruitless) phone calls to X box my account magically wasn't banned. Don't know what happened as they just kept telling me there was nothing they could do without a credit card. I didn't dare call and ask what happened.

How long did it take for them to figure it out?

Well it's been over 4 days, 2 full business days. Surely they would have done something by now.

I wouldn't celebrate about getting an entire year free when you're only 4 days into it.

How about a week.

It was a little over a month before they figured me out. Everything was fine and normal until one day I tried to hop online, but wasn't able too. Called to find out what was wrong, and they proceeded to tell me my account had been banned for a missed payment a month or so back. I was gutted. But hey maybe you'll get lucky.

I guess I'll save 50 bucks and if it happens I'll call them and play dumb and pay.

That's why I use the prepaid Live card. Fuck giving Microsoft my credit card number.
