Matches that will never happen

So after this decade it's is truly a rule, never say never. After seeing WWE buy WCW, re-open ECW and all of the surprises that came with it. I never thought we would see The Rock vs Hogan, or Hall vs Austin, or the NWO in WWE, or Bischoff in WWE, or Goldberg at Wrestlemania, or HBK vs Hogan, etc... the list could go on.

Though many things have happend that we though would never happen, there are still options out there that could make us say, "WOW, I never thought that would happen!".

What are they?

For me, one match that could happen still that probably never will is Sting vs Shawn Michaels. Here you have to two most loyal top guys ever. Shawn never went south and Sting never went north. And it is likley that both never will. Who knows how long both of these guys can keep going at the level they want to perform at?

How amazing would that match be? Sting would obviously have to play the power role, which he does believably because he is quite big and strong. And Shawn would play the bumper car bouncing from pilar to post. I would imagine this match being like a much better version of Hogan and Shawn from Summerslam. A match that is not so one sided. Obviously Sting is no HBK in the ring but he can't still go and his style is unique to him and pretty kick ass to watch still.

For me this is the match that could never happen, but man if it did I would be blown away, and I would want to be there.

Just a side note, I have no idea who would book this match TNA or WWE, no idea. I can't see Sting coming to WWE simply because he hasn't done that yet. And I don't see Shawn ever coming to terms with Vince and Triple H that would lead him to TNA.

So what is a match that you would love to see that will probably never happen?

Well, one of the first that came to mind is one that will obviously never happen. Benoit v Punk. I even remember people were saying when Chris was drafted to ECW, that WWE was going to hold off on the match, cus they knew it was money, but then it was booked for the very next ppv, which had everyone excited. But we all know what happened next. But hard to believe we were so close to that match, and if everything had happened a few days later, who knows.

I feel like Austin/Hogan could still happen potentially. In TNA of course. If TNA starts to move up the ladder big time I could see Hogan offering enough money to come in and have the match. However, Austin obviously seems bent on not returning to the ring, but who knows what will happen.

Nicky Fives 12-04-2009 04:51 PM

no chance Austin/Hogan happening..... REPEAT no chance...... Hogan may be an attention whore, but Austin has no interest in returning for a match, let alone with someone with the in-ring talent of Hogan

LuigiD 12-04-2009 05:55 PM

I had actually thought of the ones listed above.
Besides those, Austin/Goldberg was a dream match of mine back in the day. Too bad it will never happen.

More the fact that neither one will want to lose to the other, despite wwe hyping it a couple of years back like it was definately going to happen.

Jeritron 12-05-2009 11:22 AM

Yea, Hogan/Austin and NWO vs DX are two big matches that I could have seen happening for a Wrestlemania a few years ago. Now, they will never happen.

But dead vs dead can happen?

Can't wait for Eddie vs Umaga in a chairs match with Kennedy as the ref.

Too soon? :shifty:

I've ALWAYS said this would be one of my dream matches. Pretty much for the same reasons you've stated. They're both their respective companies francises, they never went to the opposition and they're both about the same height, weight, same charisma, nice movesets etc. Would be a truly epic encounter.

Anyways, not quite a match-up, but here's an interesting clip from some kinda Christian TV program. It has Sting interviewing Shawn Michaels:

A couple of years back when they were both their respective companies tag team champions, this would have been an absolutely amazing match:

VS

Okay, it's not a 'match that will never happen', but since neither team is together anymore it's very unlikely.

Yeup even if this was a guaranteed 2 series of matches where both would be given 1 win, it still won't happen mainly because of how Hogan-HBK feud ended when HBK learned he wasn't going to get his win match in return.

I don't know Angle vs. Danielson I think still has a possibility, because I can see Angle coming back. He is going to be put in the Hall of Fame some day, unfortunately it might be when he is retired, BUT, there is always a chance he wants to have his last run in WWE. The other ones I have to agree with you on, though Taz vs. Joe COULD happen, only because they are in the same company. Taz may be on commentary but Joe could call him out, saying he is washed up.

Jordan 12-07-2009 11:57 AM

Yep

Schlomey 12-07-2009 11:59 AM

Londrick vs MCMG would also be good for me.
