New WWE Films Project: Big Red

From PWInsider:

The synopsis of the WWE Studios project "Big Red" reads as follows: "In 1965, as the world changes all around him, 12-year-old Andy Nichol comes of age when he's asked by his favorite teacher, Mr. Simon, to partner with school outcast Big Red for an English assignment." WWE has optioned the script to produce so chances are it will be re-worked to fit with whatever talent they want to feature in the film.

This is too perfect for Kane.

"Big Red"? An outcast? Come on, Big Red Machine.

English assignment? Kane was an English teacher.

Cool King 12-07-2009 05:52 PM

So Dean Malenko will be playing the role of the teacher then? :shifty:

Sounds like an awful idea for a film.

From PWInsider:

According to the Variety report Dave Scherer wrote about earlier today, the WWE Studios film "Big Red" will feature Randy Orton. The plot of the coming of film reads, "In 1965, as the world changes all around him, 12-year-old Andy Nichol comes of age when he's asked by his favorite teacher, Mr. Simon, to partner with school outcast Big Red for an English assignment." No word on who Orton will be playing in the film yet. WWE acquired the script with the idea of tailoring it to one of their talents a few months back.

lol

So a 40year old Kane will play a high school student?

That is so Beverly Hills.

According to a story from Variety, Ed Harris and Amy Madigan have been attached to WWE Studios film Big Red with Randy Orton. The film is set in 1960s, and follows a 12-year-old boy whose English teacher [Harris] gives him a project with school outcast, Big Red. Madigan will play the
school's principal. Orton plays the father of the outcast who wants to get the teacher fired. The film will start shooting in and around New Orleans next week. The casting of Harris and Madigan is part of the WWE's latest strategy of putting it's wrestlers with established actors, rather than having them carry an entire film like they have done in the past with John Cena and Steve Austin. And when he fails, he'll RKO the teach through the table and punt him in the head. :shifty:

So Orton's in. Hopefully we'll still see Kane as the outcast, because like Xero said, the first thing any WWE fan might think of besides bubble gum or soda when they hear the words "Big Red" are likely to be more along the lines of "The Big Red Machine" (i.e., Kane)...totally agree with Xero that it would be a perfect fit despite the outcast character supposedly being 12.

And he'll then proceed to wreck the entire classroom causing thousands of dollars worth of damage in the process.
