Wow, they made Shelton look good

Sorry to mark out, but damn. Shelton took a beating in the 6 man tag, then after the match does a high spot, then still has the energy to jump off the ropes to the ladder and argue with Christian over who will win the belt at TLC. They say they want to steal the show and they just might. The only hiccup I saw was he had a rough time getting some words out on the mic, but that's typical for Shelton.

I'm pretty sure that Shelton is winning and Christian is moving up to Smackdown or Raw so they need to make him look good.

The Pope 12-09-2009 07:16 PM

shelton Benjamin should've been up there a long time ago.

Johnny Vegas 12-09-2009 07:19 PM

I honestly thought Shelton was going to be i his current position shortly after adopting the "Gold Standard" gimmick, but better late than never I suppose.

Hopefully the build isn't for nothing and he actually gets the title. Christian has done an amazing job over the past year on ECW and I think it's time he got the move to SmackDown!. I don't trust the Raw "creative" team with him. Christian would flourish on SD.

I got so excited at the beginning of ECW, I hadn't watched it in a while and Shelton started off his promo really well. Then he goes and messes up. He is better as a face though. Lance Storm was right as ever.

I'd love to see Christian move to Smackdown. Him feuding with Jericho again as a upper midcar/lower main event feud would rule.

DAMN iNATOR 12-09-2009 08:57 PM

It will be one of the few times where I actually won't use that match as a piss break while I'm at the bar probably...sounds way more exciting than just about anything the new ECW has done before on PPV besides maybe the New Breed vs. ECW Originals at Mania 23.

Nothing like the Gold Standard winning a silver plated belt yipee.

Mr. Nerfect 12-12-2009 02:08 AM

I've always thought that Shelton Benjamin was better as a face. It's good to see he's getting a bit of a push as one. It feels right to put the belt on him at TLC, as Shelton needs to win a Ladder Match one of these days. Christian has also been champion long enough. It also creates a new "African-American star," which the WWE is apparently after.

Possibility: If Shelton wins, the ECW belt gets a(nother) redesign, back to gold with ECW not nearly as prominently featured so that when the rebranding takes place next year the belt won't need as major an overhaul.

Actually met Shelton yesterday at work. He was in Toys R Us picking up some VTech games for his little one and was wondering if they were over in the electronics where I worked. From my interaction with him and the few other employees who tried to help him he actually came off as kinda a ass.

The Gold Standard 12-12-2009 05:09 PM

If Shelton wins, I will mark out like crazy.

Haha, cool story. He probably knew he was going to bust his ass in another Ladder Match and lose.

Super V 12-15-2009 09:37 AM

Btw that ladder match sucked.

XCaliber 12-15-2009 03:29 PM

Platinum my arse as if they would make a better belt for the 3rd tier show and yes the match failed to live up to the hype but the end was cool at least.

Not that Shelton doesn't very much deserve to be upgraded to "The Platinum Standard".

I lol'ed at your source.
