Okay...

DAMN iNATOR 12-13-2009 07:19 AM

Sounds like a great choice to me, if they're gonna keep doing the band-exclusive games. I know it sounds ridiculous, but actually at one point yesterday I was thinking how great it'd be if Green Day was featured in a RB or GH game.

Guess I'll get to find out sometime in 2010.

Kalyx triaD 12-13-2009 07:37 AM

They have two track packs for RB already, guess they wanna go all out.

G 12-13-2009 08:53 AM

So that's why they've been holding out with the DLC

Chavo Classic 12-13-2009 11:20 AM

Hopefully they'll have the old stuff.

DAMN iNATOR 12-13-2009 02:08 PM

I'd be all for that as long as from American Idiot, they included:

American Idiot
Holiday
Wake Me Up When September Ends
and since it's an epic, 5 part, 9 minute song, Jesus of Suburbia for the final boss song or whatever.

G 12-13-2009 02:14 PM

probably no import code :(

Requiem 12-13-2009 02:16 PM

What a waste of development time and money.

Kalyx triaD 12-13-2009 02:27 PM

They'll make return, I'm sure of it - It is fucking Greenday. But if you mean a waste in terms of them doing something more appealing, then I'm with you. I hope they're tooling away at Rock Band 3 during their spin-off development, in that case they can do what they want. They still have the better franchise.

G 12-13-2009 03:05 PM

One of the least surprising "World Exclusive" reveals during last night's Video Game Awards show was the unveiling of Harmonix's next single-band opus, Green Day: Rock Band. In case you missed out on the late-to-the-party announcement, you can check out the debut trailer after the jump. If you don't feel like watching a streaming video at the moment, we'll summarize: It looks a heck of a lot like when you play those Green Day DLC songs on Rock Band 2.

The MTV Games press release that landed in our inbox shortly after the trailer aired contained one particularly interesting piece of news -- unlike The Beatles: Rock Band, all of the tracks in Green Day's outing will be exportable to the core Rock Band games. In addition, all the Green Day DLC released so far for the music platform, as well as the three 21st Century Breakdown tracks that will hit this Tuesday, will be compatible with Green Day: Rock Band. No release date has been given thus far, but the presser specifies that its coming to the Wii, PS3 and 360.

yay for exporting. looks like i'll be buying this new then.

Boomer 12-13-2009 03:09 PM

This Pearl Jam project is taking a while. Makes me wonder if it will just be a big online track pack or a full-out release.

OssMan 12-13-2009 03:19 PM

LOL

LOL @ this song, I have not thought about this in maybe 7 years. Hilarious

Buzzkill 12-13-2009 11:37 PM

Would be far too easy. Power chords for 3 minutes? OK

Kalyx triaD 12-14-2009 04:27 AM

Like there's not songs that are like that already.

Tornado 12-14-2009 04:30 AM

I'd prefer Rock Band 3.

Kalyx triaD 12-14-2009 04:51 AM

That's everybody ever. lol

Still think that would be an awesome "FINAL BOSS SONG" or w/e, and could be the best since GH II's career "FINAL BOSS SONG", Free Bird.

Just sayin'. Probably won't happen, but at the very least I will probably at the very least feign interest in the game and give it a couple day's rental from the video store when it drops.

Indifferent Clox 12-14-2009 02:49 PM

I will say this: Coldplay Rock Band is coming.

Indifferent Clox 12-14-2009 02:49 PM

Couldn't they have done The Who or The Clash instead?

Kalyx triaD 12-14-2009 02:51 PM

Or Linkin Park? All That Remains?

Kalyx triaD 12-14-2009 02:51 PM

Matt Redman?!

Indifferent Clox 12-14-2009 09:30 PM

uh you kinda missed the point there kalyx...

Kalyx triaD 12-14-2009 09:32 PM

Believe me, I wasn't aiming for it.

Indifferent Clox 12-14-2009 10:25 PM

Ah

Kalyx triaD 12-16-2009 08:34 AM

Cyborg Slayers!!!

Indifferent Clox 12-16-2009 09:47 PM

I mean I like old greenday, somewhat. Buttheir earliest stuff (those eps that came out as 1 album) is still their best

Juan 12-16-2009 09:59 PM

This is good news for Green Day fans.

Outsider 12-17-2009 06:18 AM

Green Day combined with video games?

That's like combining two of my favourite things in the world.

All I need now is steak flavoured beer or a blowjob in my sleep and I'm set.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2010 06:51 AM

* "Brain Stew"/"Jaded" (played together)
* "Hitchin' a Ride"
* "Wake Me Up When September Ends"
* "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
* "American Idiot"

Harmonies are in, and all tracks are fully exportable (unlike the Fab Four's game). Harmonix seems to like reminding people that this is not Rock Band 3 - which according to them, will be Jesus riding a raptor to battle.

Funky Fly 03-11-2010 08:10 AM

The fuck? How did I not hear about this terrible news. What happened to talks of getting a Queen: RB game? I'd like that much much more.

Kalyx triaD 03-11-2010 08:23 AM

Queen had that big track pack a while back, I don't think a game is coming.

That's pretty retarded, considering the subject this thread is about.

Though I'd take your "logic" over Brian May any day....:p

OssMan 03-11-2010 09:55 AM

Why not Steve Miller Band: Rock Band? Or Guitar Hero Peter Paul & Mary? What about Rock Band: They Might Be Giants? Or at least DJ Hero: R Kelly's Trapped in the Closet.

Green Day: Rock Band releases June 8 worldwide

That's right, folks -- Harmonix has just revealed that Green Day: Rock Band will be available for all come June 8 on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. Up to 6 players (3 mics; 3 instruments) will progress through the career of the trio, unlocking collectible images (more than 100, apparently) and some 40 minutes of "rare and unreleased" footage from interviews, outtakes and performances along the way.

As alluded to above, GD:RB will also sport the same vocal harmonizing feature that made The Beatles: Rock Band such a delight for mic hogs and comes loaded with 47 Green Day tracks, including "Brain Stew," "Jaded," "Hitchin' a Ride," "American Idiot," "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."

Oh, and if you're looking to export these tunes, worry not: all 47 tracks are fully exportable to a console hard drive and playable in Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and the recently announced Rock Band 3. The export fee is $9.99 via Xbox Live or PSN. The export features is not available for the Wii system. Additionally, if you've picked up the six Green Day tunes already available as DLC, you can play them in the new game with added harmonies, "unique" visuals and more "exclusive archival material."

Green Day: Rock Band will be available as a standalone game for Xbox 360 and PS3 for $59.99, while Wii owners will get a bit of a price break at $49.99. A special edition Green Day: Rock Band Plus will also come to Xbox 360 and PS3 for $69.99 and includes fancy packaging, an "export" feature (we assume, a voucher to export the disc tracks to the hard drive) and the six previously released Green Day DLC tracks.

Update: The GameStop pre-order bonus for the standalone game is an export voucher (for Xbox 360 or PS3). Essentially, pre-order GD:RB from GameStop, and you can export all 47 tracks to your console hard drive for free.
