"IMPACT ZONE" getting a new look

Ryan "Douche Bag" Clark

Over the last few weeks I’ve been hearing about a major overhaul of the TNA ‘iMPACT! Zone’ in Orlando, FL. I have been holding off on reporting anything until I could get further confirmation.

I’ve been told that Eric Bischoff’s production company is the contractor logged in to oversee the overhaul. TNA has to notify lease agents, insurers and park officials of any construction activities because they can interrupt the filming of other productions on the lot.

I would expect a brand new set to debut on the January 4th TNA iMPACT!. There are also rumors about the six-sided ring being replaced by a 20 x 20 ring although I can’t confirm that. I’ve sent off several emails and have not heard back just yet. Hulk Hogan has also said numerous times that he’s not a fan of the six-sided ring

The Pope 12-16-2009 08:10 PM

They need it

Xero 12-16-2009 08:13 PM

I'm indifferent about the possible ring change. I don't really care either way, I'd rather just see good matches and angles.

Shadow 12-16-2009 08:14 PM

Aww...getting rid of the 6 sided ring just makes then less unique.

Supreme Olajuwon 12-16-2009 08:15 PM

unique and different for the sake of being different aren't the same thing

Juan 12-16-2009 08:16 PM

Well TNA getting rid of that ring would be a step in the right direction. I'd be more inclined to watch.

thedamndest 12-16-2009 08:16 PM

Is his middle name seriously Douche Bag?

The Pope 12-16-2009 08:17 PM

six sides does make it look like a "gimmick ring"

of course not it's Pussy

ron the dial 12-16-2009 08:19 PM

so 4 sides and 8 sides are all gold but 6 aren't? i don't get that. anyway, i would like to echo xero's sentiment in this thread.

Juan 12-16-2009 08:24 PM

UFC doesn't count. Wrestling rings should be 4 sides. That 6 sided ring is one of the main reasons I could never get into TNA.

The Pope 12-16-2009 08:24 PM

ok. UFC doesn't even look like 8 sides. it just looks like a circle

The Pope 12-16-2009 08:24 PM

I also agree with Juan. Siganme Los Buenos

ron the dial 12-16-2009 08:25 PM

meh seems like a ridiculous thing to concern yourself with. if the product in the ring is good, who gives a shit how many sides there are? not commenting on the quality of their product, just a general statement.

Juan 12-16-2009 08:26 PM

It's more of an OCD type thing. It just bugs the crap out of me.

Tazz Dan 12-16-2009 08:27 PM

Yeah. Can't stand the 6 sided ring. Gotta go with Juan, it turns me off watching more. :-\

Agreed... But If I had to choose, I'd stick with 4 sides...Irish whip moves will had a lot more whip to them...

Juan 12-16-2009 08:28 PM

I mean, the 6 sided ring isn't the ONLY reason I don't watch TNA, but it's a contributing factor.

thedamndest 12-16-2009 08:29 PM

Yes, the wrestling ring should be four sides. It's one of those things where they have always been four sides and there was no need to fix what wasn't broken. I think now they will have a much easier time aesthetically getting people to watch the show.

The Pope 12-16-2009 08:30 PM

The only reason they had six sides was because of the x division which they rarely use now, so why not make it a what Kevin Nash would say a " 2 sided ring"

Same here, id be a big fan by now if they fought in a wrestling ring

Xero 12-16-2009 08:33 PM

If anything, they can use the six sided ring for gimmick PPVs. I'd say, IF they're doing it, make Lockdown the only PPV with six sides of steel.

Steveviscious89 12-16-2009 09:34 PM

I like the idea of a set change. Changing the ring might make it better for me personally, as I am a fan of tradition. I worry about some of the guys who got use to the six sides having to make the switch, but I'm sure they can do it. I recall that TNA did not have the six sides until they made the move to Orlando.

Jeritron 12-16-2009 09:38 PM

I don't like the six sided ring because of changes it makes to the ring dimensions and some of the action.

For instance, irish whips. Jumps from the top rope, and just the overall distance from rope to rope.

thedamndest 12-16-2009 09:40 PM

I would hope they implement it into a storyline rather than just having the audience show up and think they're at ROH.

Innovator 12-16-2009 09:40 PM

I'm waiting for further confirmation....waiting for the Torch, Observer, or PWInsider to report it first

thedamndest 12-16-2009 09:42 PM

Yeah, we shouldn't get so wrapped up in Ryan "Douche Bag" Clark.

Xero 12-16-2009 09:43 PM

Think his friends call him D-Bag?

DaVe 12-16-2009 10:51 PM

xD

would be a good name

KIRA 12-16-2009 10:54 PM

OK Ive been hearing this complaint forever

What does everybody have against the 6-sided ring personally I never cared how many sides it had I'm just curious

Juan 12-16-2009 11:11 PM

I already explain why I personally don't like it.

ron the dial 12-16-2009 11:13 PM

WELL THAT'S JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH JUAN

Supreme Olajuwon 12-16-2009 11:20 PM

the TNA ring is way too small

Jeritron 12-16-2009 11:22 PM

yes

Jordan 12-16-2009 11:48 PM

I like it, it is different but not too different. I have watched lucha libre for a while so I am pretty used to it.

Droford 12-17-2009 12:36 AM

Bisch should go with his idea he had in WCW of not even having a ring.

The Show Off 12-17-2009 12:41 AM

I watch TNA more than WWE and I think going to 4 sides is a good idea. You can tell when a wrestler first debuts in TNA they're not as good in the ring right away it takes most of them like 2 or 3 moths to get used to the ring, and by then they've a;ready established themselves to the fans as not as good as they could be.

The only people I saw uneffected by the 6 sides of that bat are Kurt Angle and Desmond Wolfe.

20 X 20 is that bigger smaller or the same as WWE?

Droford 12-17-2009 12:44 AM

They should wrestle in a circle squared (two round rings).

Unless the WWE recently changed their ring since, the new TNA ring should be the same size as WWE's rings.

KIRA 12-17-2009 01:57 AM

Ive done the math and read a few opinions now I see the complaint and the awkwardness it can create for guys used to four sided rings that being said I think the only reason hogan hates it is because if he steps in that ring he will look TERRIBLE.
