Time to Bring Back the European Championship?

Sheamus’ title win has clearly generated a lot of publicity for WWE, but the progression is that a star should go through the Intercontinental/United States title first. I think a new title would at least catch some of the wrestlers that are being benched or buried because creative hasn’t been creative enough.

Just going to jump right into the booking. The following are the brackets with my picks and whatnot for each one of the matches.

Quaterfinals

Kofi Kingston vs. R-Truth
Kingston ends it with Trouble In Paradise after dodging the Axe Kick by R-Truth.
WINNER: Kofi Kingston

Mark Henry vs. William Regal
The brass knuckles come out with one Power of the Punch behind the referee’s back.
WINNER: William Regal

Jack Swagger vs. Kane
Kane’s experience overcomes Swagger’s inexperience, and after a Chokeslam, Kane picks up the win and advances to the semifinals.
WINNER: Kane

Cody Rhodes vs. Ted DiBiase
In the end, DiBiase nails not one, but two Dream Streets to put Rhodes away.
WINNER: Ted DiBiase

Semifinals

Kofi Kingston vs. William Regal
Regal once again uses the brass knuckles and Power of the Punch to put away Kingston.
WINNER: William Regal

Kane vs. Ted DiBiase
As the match is about to conclude, Rhodes comes out and Cross Rhodes Kane.
WINNER VIA DISQUALIFICATION: Kane

Finals

Kane vs. William Regal
Regal nails Kane with the brass knuckles and makes the cover as he picks up the win. With the result, Regal moves to RAW.
WINNER: William Regal

Nope. More titles aren't gonna get guys over, better writing/individual characters would be a better direction.

If there is in fact a change in ECW and they intend to deepen the roster a fair bit then i'd be for it but if not then don't bother there are enough belts as it is.

BillyBonez 12-26-2009 11:19 AM

I think a europe title would be a good fit on any brand but it would be best on ECW as a secondary title. They can do the storyline where Tiffany is liuke "No Bill u are not getting a title shot" and Regal gets mad and says "its time for the european title" and bring it back to piss her off and she then has like christian challenge him for it too and maybe even win it too lol!

Winning secondary titles isn't a prerequisite for a WWE or World champion to get over before snaring the big strap.

Sheamus isn't an isolated case. Lots of people won the big belt within a year of their arrival/return to the company without ever holding a lower tier title in that promotion.

Sheamus is in good company with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Yokozuna, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Ric Flair, Kane <strike>and The Great Khali</strike>...

Okay, some of those guys had already made names for themselves elsewhere, but WWE (and its mainstream fans) have always existed within their own little bubble, meaning a lot of those guys would have been 'unheard of' by a large portion of the promotions fans prior to their debut or return. Sheamus' big push is nothing new.

Good to see the age old tradition of intelligent debate remains as strong as ever here on TPWW.

This thread was over at post #2. Lock it up, nothing to see here.

The Mackem 01-04-2010 10:44 AM

Which brand would this go on? They don't seem to have enough of a roster to go for the titles that already exist nevermind more titles.
