I know a few guys on here play warcraft/other mmo's, or like star trek and wondered if anyone was getting Star Trek Online...basically a star trek MMO. I believe it is launched end of Jan.

Definately checking this out and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

MMO's aren't particularly my cup of tea but I still might pick them up if I can get my damn comp up to snuff.

Going to suck. There is, and will be, better sci-fi space based MMOs out there that -don't- rely on someone else's IP to 'get over'.

Old Republic is gonna be so much better.

Star Trek > Star Wars

This is a fact but not the in PC/Video Game world.

Star Wars is all popcorny with action and violence. Star Trek is more about science and discovery. If Star Trek Online can follow the path of discovering new life and new civilizations then I think it will be a big success. If they try to have too many popcorn space battles then it's going to fail. Star Trek is about asking questions not the Jack Bauer approach to shoot first and ask questions never.

Old Republic is still not going to be amazing or anything. People are getting their hopes up for nothing, unless 'linear PvE themepark' MMOs are your thing.

I'm so getting this game.

Feb 2 release date.

Anyone get into the public beta?

I didn't know about it until today. :n: It is going on till tomorrow so I registered with Star Trek Online.com in a last ditch effort to get in.

I just found out about it this morning soo not even gonna try.

There should be like a 3 day trial or some shit to see if you like it. Not gonna spend 50 bucks for something I'll play less then a month.

I think there was a trial for Star Wars Galaxies and Everquest 2. Can't remember.

Not for awhile after it came out. Just like WoW, Age of Conan, Warhammer, etc, etc.

Got an Email saying there will be a free demo starting May 7.

Got some mediocre reviews.

lol yeah, this game sucked as predicted. MMO community is 'up in arms', and quite a few of their lifetime subscribers are already ragequitting.

I'm not that into MMOs, but none of that really surprises me.

While I say I'm not into MMOs, Champions online and STO were both ones I was looking forward to. I don't know if I would have paid to subscribe or not, but I'm not bashing this because MMOS r teh ghey or anything.

In fact, I'm Hella disappointed that this was so poorly received and evidently so bad.

Out of curiosity, what type of gameplay are you looking for out of an MMO? Maybe I could recommend one based on your preferences.

Yeah...I pretty much got to take part in the beta early Jan.

Requiem is right...it sucked, so I cancelled my order.

I'm kinda sticking to sports MMOs now. I've played Football Manager Live (soccer) and FIFA online is being released later this year.

The DS9 uh, missons?, Have me interested as I loved that show.

Anyone else playing this since it went free2play earlier this week?

Not even gonna try it.
