According to Sherdog Kenny Florian is probable to be Gomi's first opponent in the UFC.

Tentativly I'd have to guess that Florian would beat Gomi.

That would make no sense at all

Florian is on his way back up the ladder. Gomi hasnt even gotten his feet wet yet. If Florian loses, its a huge set back, if Gomi loses, its a horrible start. Why?

Why not let Gomi go against someone like Sean Sherk or something. Dana White is a horrible match maker.

Dana white doesnt make the match-ups, joe silva does.

Anyway, if florian wins hes right back in the title picture and gomi is just another guy from a japan organization that comes here and does shit.

If gomi wins hes another guy to compete in the division and florian will fight some different people to work his way back up.

Why not put him against Guida? I'm with RP here, that fighting Florian makes no sense. Florian is pretty much the second best guy in the division right now. The only way this makes sense is if Gomi signed a contract for an extremely low number of fights.

look at how well all these guys fron japan have been doing coming over here. It doesnt make sense shelling out money to a guy to have him lose to a lower tier fighter when you could use his name to hype one of your good ones.

If they want to put Gomi up against someone they think would be a threat, why not Frankie Edgar?

If Sherk used his wrestling he'd completely stifle Gomi and make Gomi look like a nobody.

If Sherk decided to do his alligator boxing act he's been putting on of late Gomi will destroy him.

Sherk/Gomi isn't a good match either.

The real match up would be Gomi/Huerta if Huerta is still fighting... Failing that a Gomi/Guida match like mentioned earlier would be good.

However, UFC isn't about giving guys road kill matches off the bat anymore. They put Brock against the worst stylistic match off the bat in Mir. They gave Akiayama Belcher who is a guy they think highly of. The put Wanderlei against Chuck off the bat. Gomi will have to earn a spot amongst the UFC elite, which is the way it should be.

If Gomi is the guy that used to bestroy people he'll be back in the Top 10 in no time. A win against Kenny will do that instantly.

Probably because Florian is a bigger name. Either way Florian will fight Edgar before another title shot anyhow IMO. Whether Florian or Edgar fight Gomi I'm certain they'll probably have to go against each other.

Florian would decisively beat Gomi btw.
