Worst burial ever

What was the worst burial you've ever seen in wrestling? Not talking casket match, talking about a wrestler just destroying the credibility of another, whether it be promo, match, etc. And I don't mean baby/heel heat, I mean bury, to where people look at them and LOL and remember them by how bad they got buried.

For the sake of the obvious, I have to go with Austin over Roberts. I'm sure guys like Goldberg/Rock have plenty as well.

Juan 01-06-2010 06:33 AM

HHH buried Scott Steiner pretty badly.

DAMN iNATOR 01-06-2010 06:37 AM

Kane once buried Undertaker alive (Survivor Series '03, I believe):shifty:

Rock Bottom 01-06-2010 06:58 AM

Yokozuna vs. 1-2-3 Kid.

Outsider 01-06-2010 07:01 AM

The Undertaker/DDP fued during the invasion

Rock Bottom 01-06-2010 07:01 AM

LOL yeah that was pretty horrible.

The Mackem 01-06-2010 07:12 AM

Pretty much everyone who came to the WWF from WCW. Booker T and DDP stand out the most.

Terry Taylor as the Red Rooster

Hogan at Wrestlemania 9; buried Yokozuna and Bret Hart

Nash and Hogan against WCW

Nash when he won the title kinda buried both Backlund and Bret Hart

Any of the Rock's promos where he insults the wrestler because he was that good at it.

Christian pretty much got buried in the fold the instant he hit SmackDown! back in '05. That being said, if ECW folds and nothing takes it's place, these days I feel Christian would be better used on SD!, even though I'm sure a lot of folks may see him as a long time staple of RAW, to which I'd say, "nah, their biggest loss came last Monday when Jericho couldn't win to get back on RAW."

Ermaximus 01-06-2010 08:30 AM

HHH vs Hurricane.
Cena vs Miz
Cena vs Carlito

Anything Swagger does these days. :(

Mr. Nerfect 01-06-2010 08:35 AM

It really depends. I mean, there is being systematically buried, like Christian was in 2005. "Oh, hey, this guy is getting over. Just what can we do to kill his heat?" I truthfully believe the WWE did all they could to stop Christian from getting over in '05. Especially with the move to SmackDown!. His status never really changed, but they just put all these measures on him to try and quell his heat. I also feel, despite how many people take the piss out of this suggestion, that CM Punk faced a similar obstactle in 2006. After Survivor Series, where Punk got a chant during DX's spot, the then undefeated Punk would lose his streak to who? Hardcore Holly of all people. There was no real logical reason for that. He was then the first man eliminated in the Elimination Chamber that next week, and the fans in attendence were pretty pissed. It got worse when Rob Van Dam was eliminated.

Punk lost a lot of momentum after that, and only really regained it when he won Money in the Bank the following year, which surprised a lot of people at the time. I think most were calling an MVP win? I changed to Punk at the last second when I realised that Matt Hardy returning and costing MVP the match would make logical sense, and Punk was the next best choice for winner. But the point is that Punk should have gained so much momentum after teaming with DX and The Hardys successfully, whilst being undefeated, and no, she should not have won the Elimination Chamber or anything; but I definitely feel there was a sudden movement to say "Hey, let's slow this Punk guy down."

But that's not the worse burial ever. Just something that Christian's situation in 2005 reminded me of.

One I'd like to bring up is Paul London & Brian Kendrick. Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch and someone Triple H was feuding with at the time were beating him down. Londrick ran out to make the save for Triple H, because they were feuding with The Redneck Wrecking Crew. I thought "Brilliant -- six-man tag and Londrick will get this awesome rub by teaming successfully with Triple H." Wrong. Triple H immediately goes on to Pedigree both guys for no reason at all, as they stand around looking like goofs who don't deserve to belong in the same ring as him.

The earliest one I can remember: Test pretty much squashed William Regal to win the European Title. I wasn't really reading dirt sheets at the time, and I remember being a massive mark for Test, so the result made me happy. I remember Jerry Lawler actually sounded shocked on commentary, though, and said that Regal must have been sick or injured. But I do not remember him taking time off. He would then become the Commission and move on to feud with Chris Jericho. So I guess he moved up, in a way, but it was weird to see Test destroy him. Made Regal look like a joke, in my opinion.

The Mackem 01-06-2010 09:17 AM

Were Londrick tag champions then? Similar things seemed to happen to the Dudleys quite often.

RatedGSuperstar 01-06-2010 09:35 AM

MVP's losing streak. He finally beat Big Show in a Last Man Standing match. And even that match he needed help from Triple H to win. He hasn't been taken seriously for sustained periods of time since.

In HHH's defense... Scott Steiner performed horribly in both of those matches. I mean so bad that he could have hurt Hunter in both of those matches. Steiner was sloppy, slipping while performing moves inside the ring, it was just nasty to watch. So you can't totally fault Trips for that burial... if you wanna call it that.

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-06-2010 09:57 AM

British Bulldog was just as sloppy against Bret at SS '92, and Bret got a classic out of him, even after Bulldog was on a 2 month crack/steroid binge.

hahahaha

Haze 01-06-2010 10:01 AM

D'Lo was buried pretty bad after the Droz incident.

I can't beleive you're comparing Steiner to the Bulldog like that.

Innovator 01-06-2010 10:11 AM

-Jericho cleaning up dog crap as champ

The Mackem 01-06-2010 10:29 AM

I often wonder what have happened if Steiner wasn't injured when he returned to WWE.

It's not like Steiner wasn't a balls to the wall worker when he was in his prime.

Ok, comparing even a coked-up Bulldog to the version of Steiner that HHH worked with in 03.

Savio 01-06-2010 11:47 AM

Booker T was buried when he first came in First he loses to the his WCW title to the Rock, then he loses the Rematch, then he loses a 2 one one handicap match against him.

Haze 01-06-2010 12:12 PM

Tazz also comes to mind when he first hit the WWE.

Stop bringing that up, you son of a bitch. You're marring my memories. :'(

TGR 01-06-2010 12:20 PM

In terms of a heat-killing move, Rikishi's heel turn (admitting he ran over SCSA) and the subsequent revelation that he was simply a lackey of Triple H's.

Anybody Thrilla 01-06-2010 12:25 PM

He did it. For The Rock.

Anybody Thrilla 01-06-2010 12:26 PM

Actually, I think The Rock threw the final shovelful of dirt on Rikishi's burial when he called him a thong-wearing fatty.

Wolfpack423 01-06-2010 12:27 PM

I don't think The Rock ever buried anyone. He put over so many people: Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar, The Hurricane.

Anybody Thrilla 01-06-2010 12:30 PM

I don't think The Rock ever INTENTIONALLY buried anyone, but like The Mackem mentioned, he was so great on the mic that he made his opponents seem inferior just by making fun of them.

McLegend 01-06-2010 12:30 PM

When HHH beat beat Booker T at WM19.

That was a good burial.

beat beat? ;)

McLegend 01-06-2010 12:33 PM

Yes beat beat.

Also HHH beating Orton a month after he won the title. It took Orton years to get over that.

That is a painful memory for me.

Austin buried Lance Storm when he called him boring.

Favre4Ever 01-06-2010 01:56 PM

Um when Devon Dudley became Vince's religious advisor or whatever, after Devon got Batista over he got buried pretty hard.

Anybody Thrilla 01-06-2010 02:00 PM

That Scott Steiner video is amazing.

Anybody Thrilla 01-06-2010 02:01 PM

Sort of on topic...another big burial was WCW burying itself. They broke kayfabe so many times to bitch about the state of the company it was ridiculous.

KIRA 01-06-2010 02:53 PM

I was gonna mention triple h vs booker but you beat me to it

that match still pisses me off

Why the hell can't scott speak

How That promo didnt get him fired is a wonder

Anybody Thrilla 01-06-2010 02:54 PM
