Quote:

This past Monday night on RAW, United States Champion The Miz spoke to Maryse in French following her match with Brie Bella. He said, “Je suis gai, tu me veux,” which translates to “I am gay, you want me.”

Maryse: sure miz say 'Je suis gai, tu me veux,'

Miz: Je suis gai, tu me veux, is that right?

What Would Kevin Do? 01-09-2010 02:03 PM

WWE should run with this.

Cool King 01-09-2010 02:09 PM

The Miz knows French, he knows what he's saying.

By "gai", he most likely meant happy. The word has alot of different meanings in French and "Happy" is one of them.

Nark Order 01-09-2010 02:10 PM

Pretty rofl.

Savio 01-09-2010 02:28 PM

Well, in English it also means "happy". Or used to at least.

Tazz Dan 01-09-2010 02:40 PM

Pretty sure this was meant to be a rib on Maryse or something. She looked like she was going to 'lol' when he said that.

Tazz Dan 01-09-2010 02:40 PM

Also, I hadn't really seen much of Maryse, but my god that girl is a stunner.

Sovereigntywillpr 01-09-2010 02:54 PM

fuck, I speak french and that's NOT what it translates too, I knew it since I read this "translation" I've forgot.

It didn't mean gay, nor did it mean happy.

it's a simple french word I should know (and did 5 minutes ago)

anyone speak french? they'll know...

kareru 01-09-2010 03:01 PM

gai = gay

kareru 01-09-2010 03:06 PM

he should have said

'Je suis heureux, vous me veux'

i'm happy,you want me

Stealth-Icon 01-09-2010 03:09 PM

The Miz coming out of the closest

The Miz may have been misinterpreted as according to FreeTranslation.com, the French to English translation of “Je suis gai, tu me veux” — what he said to Maryse this past Monday night on RAW — is “I am cheerful, you want me.” It’s been noted that he said, “I am gay, you want me.” With that being said, this is likely a case of a word having multiple connotations.
gay is another word for happy/cheerful mr clark

Easily the biggest wrestling news story of the last 5 years, maybe even since Montreal

Gerard 01-09-2010 03:24 PM

And in other groundbreaking news, Vince screwed Bret.

Nicky Fives 01-09-2010 03:43 PM

his accent was so bad, it's even hard to tell what he said..... but even if he called himself gay.... it was probably only a backstage joke

kareru 01-09-2010 03:45 PM

Gai is borrowed from English word gay while it dosent carry the same context as the english word implying homosexuality it (It actually means happy) it is nonetheless used by french homosexuals to refer to them selves

je suis heureux (if male) I am happy- this would have been less controversial

Anybody Thrilla 01-09-2010 08:30 PM

We should ask Kapoutman.

Mr. Nerfect 01-10-2010 12:08 AM

Everyone seems to be suggesting that The Miz say "happy." I ask you this: Does the phrase "I am happy. You want me," really sound like something suave? He should have said "I am awesome. You want me." Happy doesn't really fit, either.

It either seems like a The Miz/Maryse having fun, or what The Miz said was nothing like is being reported.

Jimmy Cones 01-10-2010 04:13 AM

Come on guys, you must have misheard him. He obviously said something that translates to "I am awesome". If not, then that's what he meant.

Anyone who thinks that in today's society in America that gay could possibly mean happy anymore is sadly mistaken. That's a very archaic usage of the term and if I'm not mistaken it's pretty much obsolete in that definition. Shit, about the only time I hear it in the "happy and innocent" meaning anymore is at the end of the Flintstones theme song ("...we'll have a gay old time!")

Gai can be used to mean frisky or horny.

Now you know!
