I want to host a Metal Gear Solid marathon.
 

DETAILS:

1) The Metal Gear Marathon would consist of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots played consecutively. Chronological order by year of setting would be the best way to do this, since anyone willing to participate in such a long event should be familiar with the storyline.

2) Every cutscene will be watched in its entirety.

3) The controller will be passed around every 15 minutes. This shouldn't be a problem with anyone, since the MGS series is one of the few game series where spectating can be entertaining.

4) Enough pizza and beer to last until the end. 5 Hour Energy shots for anyone that shows signs of nodding off.

Why not play the first MGS?

Your marathon is incomplete without playing Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2.

This is true. How else will you defeat Big Boss with a homemade flamethrower?

Not only that, but a lot of of story points in the metal gear solid saga will have a lot less impact, without playing the first two. Solid isn't a reboot. It's a sequel.

Go get MGS 3: Subsistance. It has the first two on it.
