Damn I Miss WWF/E Dudleys

Fuckers were insane there. Some of the most hype moments on WWE TV came from those guys.

The Franchise 01-23-2010 06:22 PM

Me too. I miss that Dudleyz/Hardyz/E&C era... fuck that has to be my favorite tag feud of all-time.

I can do without the initial retard gimmick, but other that they were gold to the tag team division.

I don't remember much of the stuttering Bubba gimmick. Did they win matches during that? Knowing the WWF's history with ECW guys they could have easily become jobbers.

Kalyx triaD 01-23-2010 06:59 PM

They were actually treated as formidable for a bit, but they really got their shot during the 'armor fatigue/trance Bubba' days. After they put some chicks through tables they became gods.

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-23-2010 08:20 PM

Yeah the days when WWF/E had the strongest mid card they ever had. The Radicalz, Dudleyz, Hardyz, E and C, Angle, Jericho, NAO, Kane, Rikishi, Too Cool, APA and the list goes on...

All those characters had substance. those were the good days.

To be honest, while sometimes entertaining in the WWE, and being a great thing for the tag team division -- I think TNA has seen The Dudleyz most consistent work.

Disturbing isn't it?

Stickman 01-24-2010 12:52 PM

Is anybody going to post classic Dudley matches to prove their greatness?

Only one good thing about the Dubbleys in WWE......Stacey!http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.co...leyboyz/13.jpg

I really hope Team 3-D either goes back to WWE at some point or joins up with a good indy fed (preferable) I really like them when they are uncensored.

Haha, I think they even called her "The Duchess of Dudleyville". But yeah, Dudleys in WWE were awesome. One of my favorite tag teams for a long time.

Rammsteinmad 01-24-2010 03:10 PM

They were always good, but were only really worth anything around 2000/2001. After that they pretty much became a standard tag team used whenever there weren't any other teams for the PPV.

THIS! Team 3D has really stepped up their performance since their tours in Japan and their continued work in TNA. I loved the three way feud with E&C and the Hardys as much as the next, but outside of that I never got that Bubba or Devon much cared or tried. It was like they achieved greatness in the minds of the fans, and just started phoning it in since then (minus the original One Night Stand PPV). Honestly, from about WM17 onward, they just seemed lazy to me.

But then once they were released, I think they wanted to really up their game. I think they saw promise in the redemption of themselves. Like the Steiners or Williams/Gordy, I feel like they told themselves they had a shot at being a globally welcomed iconic tag team. They had something to work for.

When you think about the Dudleys, it really is an amazing story. They started as a gimmick stable in ECW, and I think Bubba and Devon wanted to prove they were legit, so they busted their asses and became white hot in ECW. Then they earned their spot in WWE, and again, comedic gimmick, and once again, they pushed themselves to even further up their game and got MAD over in WWE. Then where were they to go? They didn't have anything left to push them...WWE's brief love affair with the tag division was dying, and while other teams saw break out single stars (Edge, JBL, Jeff Hardy) both Bubba and Devon kind of floundered about. So, they team back up together only to realize that there isn't another team to push them against.

CUE: Future Endeavors, and since then, it's like someone lit a fire under their ass to not only solidify their legacy, but to shove their popularity and abilities up the ass of everyone at WWE, especially those who thought without the name "Dudley" they could never get over. In my own way, I've come to love Team 3D more than I ever did the Dudleys.

TOVO Fact: Tovo was always more of an Eliminators fan during their run in ECW.
