Alright, I'm drunk, and I'm going to say something gay...

But I miss Shawn Michaels' old attire. I know, weird -- it doesn't really get in the way of HBK's amazing ring performances, but the chaps are just something I don't associate with classic Shawn Michaels. I miss the long tights with the heart designs on them.

Big Vito suggested in another thread that Triple H and Shawn Michaels could end up representing Vince McMahon and Bret Hart in their suggested feud. If that were to go down, it would just be fitting to see HBK in black tights with pink hearts on them.

Anyway, I've seen these threads done before. Feel free to discuss wrestlers' ring attire in general. For example: How awesome it was when Rick Rude used his attire to psyche his opponent out.

The Jayman 01-25-2010 10:16 AM

I miss Kane's old attire

CSL 01-25-2010 10:18 AM

Michaels wears the baggy pants now because of his knee braces. I prefer the tights but he's not gonna wear them again.

Testicle 01-25-2010 10:19 AM

HBK's gear circa late '97 was probably his best.

wwe2222 01-25-2010 10:23 AM

I agree with everything said here

I was actually not aware of that. I thought there would be a reason. I remember when Stone Cold Steve Austin used to do that, and it worked for him. During his heel face in 2001, he actually went through a phase where he coloured them. I remember him wearing gold, silver and red. When he was a face I think he exclusively wore black -- representing how bad-ass he was. I thought that was a nice touch.

On the current roster, I admire how Mike Knox now wears only black trunks. He used to wear more interesting coloured ones, but since he moved to RAW, I believe, he started wearing all-black, which fits his character. Also, when Charlie Haas is teaming with him, I've noticed he wears his attire which is most black to somewhat match. I don't know how much of this is management, and how much is the actual guys, but whoever made that call -- kudos.

Chris Jericho's change to the shorter trunks was also a brilliant move with his heel turn. It highlights how he no longer cares about being aestetically pleasing, and how he is all-business. I also noticed that William Regal would bust out the full-body attire when he was playing a heel, but when he was called to be a bad-ass (like when he defeated Santino Marella for the IC Title in England), he would go back to the less ridiculous looking trunks.

Caylen Croft & Trent Barreta really need new attire, though. Also, Christian's attire since he has returned -- with the fancy patterning and shit -- just doesn't suit him, in my opinion. Bring back the big blocky "C" in the diamond. I agree about Kane's attire, too. I think he is overdue for an overhaul. His old stuff hid that he is getting older, and was a good parallel to The Undertaker.

The Jayman 01-25-2010 10:28 AM

I like HHH's purple pant tights he wore in 1999

Looking back, I don't like Triple H in long tights.

Mr. Nerfect 01-25-2010 10:36 AM

Have to admit -- they are pretty cool. They would even fit a new heel character if he were to turn on Shawn Michaels, or something. A similar colour-scheme, or something, with the current Triple H logo (or a new one).

Updating wrestlers' images is a great way to keep them relevant, in my opinion. It's cheap and easy, but a look can do wonders for a guy. Mike Knox with his awesome beard, for example.

Mr. Nerfect 01-25-2010 10:37 AM

Paul Burchill is a guy that I don't think works in long tights. Part of his appeal is that he is a bigger guy with athleticism -- but compared to a lot of the WWE roster, he isn't that big. The longer pants he was wearing for a while made him look a lot smaller.

The Jayman 01-25-2010 10:54 AM

I agree with Noid. I can see HHH going back to a pant tight for a feud with HBK. He is due for an attire change. I think he switched to his current attire back in late 99 and has only switched it once for a short time in 2003 during his feud with Goldberg. Those ugly longer tights that came down to his knees http://origin.www.wwe.com/content/me.../29062/3308754

Skippord 01-25-2010 10:54 AM

I miss Jericho in long tights

FourFifty 01-25-2010 11:03 AM

Legacy Fears Pants

Aside from that, I agree with Noid. I cannot take HBK seriously in camo-chaps.

I'd be very very suprised if Triple H changed attires again, nor do I think he should. Only reason he wore the long shorts was because of muscle atrophy in one of his oft-injured quads. 'If it's not broke, don't fix it'.

The Jayman 01-25-2010 11:10 AM

yeah I knew he switched to those b/c of his quads but at least he could have done the pants thing

Skippord 01-25-2010 11:11 AM

lol Triple H and his capri pants

The Jayman 01-25-2010 11:14 AM

lol. when I saw HHH in those tights I tore a quad

James Steele 01-25-2010 11:46 AM

I've always wanted WWE to do a "vintage" (insert Michael Cole joke) night where everyone on the card wears their old attire and re-adopts their old gimmicks of the past. For example, HBK can wear his heart tights, Kane can put on his mask, Hurricane could be Sugar Shane, etc..... I'd definately like to see it....

I'd love to see this.

In fact, gonna make a thread on this. :y:

These were made to look even worse when he wore the white boots with them. That was a really bad look for him.

HBK's blue tights from SummerSlam 95 were the best

Had a figure with those tights. Probably my favorite HBK tights after his red ones.

It's amazing how black sweat pants can be so iconic. When I saw them in Beyond the Mat on someone in the background, there was no mistaking who it was:

I did too. Rubber thing with 'Real bone cracking sounds' or some gimmick. His leg fell off. I was not happy.

Xero 01-25-2010 12:28 PM

LOL Yes! That was the one.

Mr. Nerfect 01-25-2010 12:32 PM

Steve Blackman could wear pink sweat pants and be the most bad-ass motherfucker on the planet. Seriously, if he's all good to go, the WWE should give him a Chuck Norris gimmick where he just shows up randomly and kicks some guy's ass.

He doesn't even need to appear every week. Have him show up once in a blue moon, and have people freak out "Holy shit! It's Steve Blackman!" and then get their ass kicked.

One thing I have noticed about HBK, is that he avoids the colour blue. I do not know why. He has had blue markings and such on them before, but for the most part he wears red, white or black.

I know that HBK's sister apparently made his attire for a while. I don't know if she still does -- but maybe she hates the colour blue, or something. I'd mark out if I saw HBK in blue again.

Someone should have a STEVE BLACKMAN lever. Imagine how awesome that would be.

Every once in a while, someone (probably DX) would randomly show up in picture-in-picture, "watch" the match a bit then pull the lever, summoning STEVE BLACKMAN to interfere.

Xero 01-25-2010 12:37 PM

This is why you should ALWAYS carry an extra pair of tights with you:

That would actually make me love DX. Sincerely. Especially if Steve Blackman's name was capitalised to be STEVE BLACKMAN.

Dude you have no idea. Yes it is kinda gay, but hey me and my brother say the same thing every time we see Shawn. I hate the new pants.

Testicle 01-25-2010 01:21 PM

I liked HHH's 'half tights' that he wore in 2003.

Also Rock wearing the workout clothes as a heel in early '99 were awesome, also because of an injury. Oddly enough, injuries lead to sweet ring gear.

Testicle 01-25-2010 01:21 PM

Side note, Rock's best work came while wearing those clothes.
