WWE RAW 3 hours?

- Dave Meltzer reports that there is talk within WWE of making RAW three-hours each week if TNA moves to Monday nights for good. There has also been talk of keeping the guest host storyline booked if TNA goes to Mondays.

Apparently the USA Network is high on RAW going to three-hours but Vince and Stephanie McMahon are both said to be against it. Word is that this is something being talked about a lot among some in the company.

Oh jeez, if this is legit, then for the love of God TNA, don't go to Mondays. :(

Xero 01-30-2010 03:30 PM

3 hour RAW could be okay without the guest host bullshit.

But because of the guest host bullshit, FUCK BONNIE HAMMER.

kareru 01-30-2010 03:39 PM

i don't think i could take 3 hours of raw each week

thedamndest 01-30-2010 03:40 PM

Way too much product.

Supreme Olajuwon 01-30-2010 03:57 PM

Are they threatening us?That does it Vince is actually insane, its like he wants to lose on purpose, in fact its because of the guest hosts that I'm switching over to TNA to begin with.

The Franchise 01-30-2010 04:34 PM

You'd think this could be a good thing because it will give the tag-team and mid-card divisions a chance to shine but in reality it will just be sixty more minutes of midgets and divas eating pie or something.

Sixx 01-30-2010 04:37 PM

I hope they make it 3 hours and keep bringing old guys as guest hosts, so someone dies on live TV. RATINGS.

Ermaximus 01-30-2010 04:42 PM

Cole: "Wait a minute king, is that?"

King: "Oh my God Michael it is!"

Cole: "Ladies and gentleman, the New Age Outlaws are back in the WWE and they are helping DX!"

:shifty:

Sixx 01-30-2010 04:48 PM

Uh, what?

The Franchise 01-30-2010 04:53 PM

Remember the 3-Hour RAW's they did in 2005 and 2006? Not sure if they still do them but even that felt like overkill and that had stuff like Austin returning, Triple H returning and HBK/Angle III.

James Diesel 01-30-2010 05:32 PM

3-hour Raw's would really hurt considering it demeans the value of a monthly 3-hour PPV.

So if they plan to do that then would they look at 4-hour regular PPV's and a 5-hour Mania?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

This is MADNESS!!!

teamXtremist 01-30-2010 05:33 PM

long term no way wwe can pull off 3 hours every monday

The Franchise 01-30-2010 05:39 PM

Maybe 3 hours on the "Road to Wrestlemania" would work but after that they should go back down to two.

Dante69 01-30-2010 05:44 PM

The DX crap needs to stop,It was funny 10 years ago but now days HBK and HHH need to grow the fuck up....you can't polish a turd......DX=turd

Xero 01-30-2010 05:45 PM

RAW's a turd. DX is just corn and nut pieces in said turd.

McLegend 01-30-2010 11:46 PM

3 hours is total overkill. Please no.

The Pope 01-30-2010 11:47 PM

People will be bored to death with 4 more hornswoggle segments on RAW

The Franchise 01-30-2010 11:49 PM

The crowds will be super tired by the third hour of RAW and it will definitely affect reactions. PPV's are fine at 3 hours because they are normally more exciting and keep the fans interested throughout whereas RAW will have tonnes of shittiness that will kill the crowd by hour two.

screech 01-31-2010 12:27 AM

The crowds are too dead with two hour shows lately. How could they be better with another hour of [potential] crap?

DaVe 01-31-2010 01:21 AM

no thanks

Fox 01-31-2010 02:59 AM

I really don't think the move to 3 hours is an issue. WCW Monday Nitro proved that with a deep roster, filled with both great wrestlers and big stars, a 3 hour show can be a gigantic hit.

The problem is that the WWE is still booked like shit. It's still PG-rated, heavily scripted, and as far as RAW is concerned, extremely fucking unentertaining. Moving to 3-hours isn't going to change that. Only a shake-up in the way they're writing RAW and a change from the bullshit PG rating will make RAW a better show. The fact that they are planning on KEEPING the guest host gimmick if TNA moves to Monday nights is proof that they have no intention of changing their terrible SNL-like format.

Whatever. I may start watching TNA on Monday nights if they switch. It feels more adult than the WWE's product.

WCW also gave a lot of focus to the Cruiserweights to entertain the crowd after promos or weak segments which is something WWE doesn't like to focus on. As well as focusing on their midcard and lower to fill up the 3 hours which is also something WWE is lacking on RAW but not on Smackdown (ECW is too short to see the effect).

Bad booking and writing and the stale quality of the RAW main events makes this idea worser than it should be.

Dave Youell 01-31-2010 03:47 AM

Based on how little actual wrestling there is on raw, I actually think this isn't a bad idea. At least we would get some longer matches and everyone would get more tv time. In some cases that could be. Considered a bad thing

Droford 01-31-2010 04:05 AM

Wonder how many times in a 3 hour show they would pull the "We're gonna have a mega super awesome match right out of the gate folks!" only for there to be interference which sets up the main event at 10:50pm?

Maybe USA network approached WWE or something

Steveviscious89 01-31-2010 11:24 AM

It sounds like USA will have the final call on this, whether Vince likes it or not. But geeze, I'm tired of hearing that WWE is not concerned with TNA and then finding out about all this stuff they could be doing to counteract a ratings struggle with them. Could someone in this business please just tell it like is for once?

Jimmy King 01-31-2010 11:28 AM

What up you lil turdbumps JIMMY KING IS ONLINE

The Pope 01-31-2010 11:30 AM

Vince: I'm not concerned with TNA at all but if they go to mondays we're keeping the Guest Host thing we do and continue wasting money.

TNA: Their ratings don't go up with the guest host. Idiot

Vince: Shut Up! It's all about the money.

TNA:................................wtf

Xero 01-31-2010 11:38 AM

Vince: At least I didn't hire The Nasty Boys.

TNA: ........:$
