Wrestlers that never went to the top rope?

Ever?

NoRoolz 01-31-2010 08:21 PM

Haven't followed WWE avidly enough so could easily be mistaken... but surely Khali couldn't get his hunk of shit kneecaps up to the top rope? Let alone jump/be slammed off them?

Vastardikai 01-31-2010 09:23 PM

Pretty much Any wrestler that came before Jimmy Snuka.

Lock Jaw 02-01-2010 03:26 PM

Bobo, the Wrestling Bear.

Lock Jaw 02-01-2010 03:27 PM

Not to be confused with Gobo, the Wrestling Bear, who was well known for his 450 Splash. Way ahead of his time.

Rammsteinmad 02-01-2010 04:41 PM

Has Hulk Hogan ever been to the top rope?

Also, random name that came to mind, but Buh Buh Ray Dudley or whatever he's called now. I know he does that weird bomb thing off the middle rope, but don't recall ever seeing him come off the top... ?

The Franchise 02-01-2010 05:11 PM

Has The Rock?

Savio 02-01-2010 05:45 PM

didn't rock do his super rock bottom off the top rope? or are we not counting that?

The Franchise 02-01-2010 05:55 PM

Had to Google that. Don't even remember it :$

I say it counts, he is on the top rope after all

parkmania 02-01-2010 07:10 PM

Yokozuna? I don't remember ever seeing/hearing of a Super Banzai Splash.

KayfabeMan 02-01-2010 08:10 PM

Probably a great deal of them.

I'm pretty sure I saw him deliver a Double Axe Handle off the top a few times.

Jeritron 02-02-2010 07:09 PM

Can't ever remember Triple H or The Rock doing it

Nicky Fives 02-02-2010 07:35 PM

Yokozuna

Indifferent Clox 02-03-2010 12:27 AM

Triple H has for sure been to the top all the time

Lock Jaw 02-03-2010 12:28 AM

Didn't Yokozuna try to go to the top once, but then the turnbuckles broke?

Xero 02-03-2010 11:07 AM

The turnbuckle broke when he tried to do the Banzi on Austin.

Xero 02-03-2010 11:09 AM

For the record, that should have counted as being in the ropes. :shifty:

The Jayman 02-03-2010 11:50 AM

The Rock did when he first started wrestling for wwe. He used to do a flying cross body off the top rop.

The Jayman 02-03-2010 11:53 AM

I watched No Mercy 2002 the other day and Triple H did go to the top rope in his match against Kane.

When the Hart Foundation lost the tag straps to the Rockers in a match where the ropes broke the result was declared null and void - so theoretically this should have happened to the Austin/Yoko match. Just my tuppence worth ;)

Gertner 02-04-2010 10:51 AM

The Great Khali I'm guessing.

Was that ring gimmicked? If not, that was some damn fine improv skill.

Xero 02-05-2010 10:09 AM

The fact that Austin didn't hit the ropes at the beginning (yet acted like he did) didn't tip you off?

Yeah, it was gimmicked.

The only reason that match didn't count is because it would have looked like crap on television. It was easier to just pretend that it never happened. Why they decide to give the Rocker the strap in a rematch is beyond me...but yeah, the match wasn't declared anything because of the rope.
