Notes On Multiple Errors At Last Night's Royal Rumble PPV
by Matt Boone
Feb 01, 2010
Jarrett sent along the following: I was watching the Royal Rumble when I could have swore I heard ECW's ring announcer introduce Ezekiel Jackson as weighing 209 pounds, which would obviously be incorrect. 290 lbs. would be more accurate.

Also, when Ezekiel was walking to the ring with William Regal, Matt Striker said, "[William Regal] on the left," when Regal was clearly on the right of the screen. It was Ezekiel's left, yes, but commentators generally call the action as it's seen from the viewer's TV screen.

Scott Douglas sent along the following: During the Undertaker/Mysterio bout last night, when 'Taker was bleeding from his nose, Matt Striker made the comment about how blood is blue until it comes into contact with oxygen, and then turns red in color.

This is a popular misconception.. blood is always red, and never blue.

Red blood cells are always red. Since RBCs make up about 40-45% of our blood, the blood is red. Red blood cells are red because they have a protein called hemoglobin which contains iron. Iron likes to bind oxygen. Oxygen combined with iron is red. The more oxygen iron has bound to it, the redder it is.

Why some people may think that blood can be blue is probably because of the color of our veins, which may be visible near the skin's surface. They appear blue because they do not get as much oxygen as the other tissues.

The bottom line is: blood is red.

It's a good thing he taught English, and not science!

That has got to be the most absurd display of nitpicking and nonsense I've ever seen on the IWC

hahahahahahahaha

I'm sure Jackson was billed at 309 lbs. Don't think I had ever heard his weight announced before then, considering I don't watch ECW.

but yes, that's clowns on the internet for you

Did you read the whole thing?

Blood is red and thats the bottom line cause Matt Boone said so...

I think I spotted another error. Shawn Michaels was scheduled to win the Rumble, which is why he broke down so much. It was not a storyline breakdown.

It was a shoot!

Tazz Dan 02-02-2010 03:52 AM

I'm fairly certain Teddy Long mocked Cryme Tyme for having their pants on the ground when quite clearly they were at almost waist hight.

He wanted a cheap pop!

Mr. Nerfect 02-02-2010 04:48 AM

Shawn Michaels was wearing the attire he used to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXV, and no one on the commentary team picked up on it. This was just unacceptable. Also, I was annoyed by how the commentators kept giving credit to the guys in the ring for eliminating Superstars from the Rumble match, while gravity got absolutely no credit.

Agreed. Gravity holds the record for the most eliminations, dunno why they keep bringing up kane and his lame 11-eliminations.

Grisham: Look, he's bleeding! That blue blood turning red as it comes into contact with oxygen is jus-

Striker: Actually Todd, dispite the terrible error I made last Sunday at The Royal Rumble, blood being blue is a popular misconception, blood is always red and never blue.

Red blood cells are always red. Since Red Blood Cells make up about 40-45% of our blood, the blood is red. Red blood cells are red because they have a protein called hemoglobin which contains iron. I'm glad I've learned the error of my ways, Todd.

Grisham: :|

Vince (Listening backstage):..........What the hell was that? :wtf:

Stop it

Gertner 02-02-2010 09:38 AM

Read the comments on 411mania. It's flooded with shit like that.

Mr. Nerfect 02-02-2010 09:44 AM

411Mania is always filled with comments like that. Sadly, it also reminds you of how many jackasses are in the IWC.

Matt Striker is an amazing commentator, by the way. I actually listen to the commentary when he is involved. I got some great satisfaction when Striker asked King to provide some insight on what it is like to be in the ring with The Undertaker, and King was all "...Uhh, dude -- do I have to? Really?"

Gertner 02-02-2010 10:28 AM

The IWC picks Striker apart. It's ridiculous cause he's the cloest things to an actual wrestling announcer that the WWE has.

Verbose Minch 02-02-2010 11:01 AM

I can't believe Boone took that seriously. Striker clearly made a joke, what the fuck.
