John Cena Vs. The Rock

So, if this happens...how do you all see it going down?

The Rock vs John Cena is always rumored anytime The Rock even discusses WWE. Who would they book to win and why?

Personally, I feel like they would book Cena to win in a "passing of the torch" kind of match. I don't see them giving The Rock the win...just to have him leave after one appearance in the ring. It would be a big rub for Cena...not like he needs it.

Thoughts on this?

Anybody Thrilla 02-03-2010 11:49 AM

I would book The Rock to win if I were going to turn Cena heel afterwards. I wouldn't want to turn Cena heel right now though, so I probably just wouldn't book it at all.

BigDaddyCool 02-03-2010 11:50 AM

Shut up newb. Rock v John Cena is dumb.

Sixx 02-03-2010 11:51 AM

Jewb.

The Jayman 02-03-2010 11:57 AM

I would much rather see The Rock vs. HHH for nostalgia reasons

Or how bout The Rock vs HBK?

Anybody Thrilla 02-03-2010 12:31 PM

Rock/Orton for me.

specialk 02-03-2010 12:42 PM

personally, as much as you guys always bitch about new talent not being pushed, wouldn't it be cooler to see someone young get a matchup like that. get the miz or someone similar talking some shit on him and have it lead to a buildup like that. it would be a way to give a huge rub to someone in that and push them from the midcard to a viable upper card contender. they would of course have to keep it from being a rock squashes match

The Franchise 02-03-2010 12:43 PM

Rock/Punk

Anybody Thrilla 02-03-2010 12:45 PM

The Miz beating The Rock would be the greatest night in the history of our sport. I seriously dobut The Rock would return just for that, though.

The Phenom 02-03-2010 01:08 PM

The Rock vs Batista that would be better than Cena.

specialk 02-03-2010 01:36 PM

i'm not saying it would have to be the miz. i just think it would be fitting with his cocky attitude right now. basically have the rock say he's tired of listening to someone like the miz going on and on. have it be an awesome match that pushes miz up to another level but ultimately the rock wins. makes the miz standout and give the rock a run for his money, and still gives the miz credibility in the main event. i'm just tired of everyone wanting to see the rock and someone over already.

everyone says they're tired of the same old thing, this would be something new. and AWESOME...to make a pun

Yeah, but The Rock and HBK have never had a match, have they?

The Jayman 02-03-2010 01:50 PM

I don't think so. I think HBK was gone when the Rock started to get big

Anybody Thrilla 02-03-2010 02:10 PM

Right. That's why I'd rather see that than HHH v. Rock 45.

Vastardikai 02-03-2010 02:12 PM

Rock vs. HBK won't happen. Rock has a long memory, and HBK tried to fuck him over in Shawn's "pre-Christian days" (only difference between then and now is that he does stomach chops instead of crotch chops. Everyone they CAN bury IS buried.).

Rock vs. Cena is slightly more likely. Rock doesn't care for Cena's smart assed remarks. But who can blame the man for being smart?

I'd rather see Rock vs. either a Drew McIntyre or a Miz.

Innovator 02-03-2010 02:24 PM

Should we just make one thread for this so it doesn't pop up every week?

Sycophant 02-03-2010 03:07 PM

btw to those who can't figure it out. This thread did not advocate for Rock vs Cena. I agree that it would be a waste of The Rock to wrestle Cena. It would ultimately accomplish nothing, but increase WWE's PPV buyrate for that event.

Yeah that. Not to say I wouldn't love to see it.

Nicky Fives 02-03-2010 04:48 PM

If Rock comes back (strong if) he needs a hellof a lot better feud than with Cena.... I never pay for PPV's (Sssssssshhhhhh) but I would pay to see Rock/Orton or Rock/Edge..... Rock/Cena would not make me pay that $40

The One 02-03-2010 08:03 PM

Hey, remember all those times Rock said he has zero interest in having a match with John Cena? And remember how Rock is rich and doesn't need WWE at all? Remember how if Rock came back at all it would be under his terms?

I guess not; OMGZ Rock/Cena!!!!1!!!one!!!!!!

TOVO Fact: Tovo thinks Frosted Flakes are GRRRRRRRREAT!

Juan 02-03-2010 08:05 PM

I for one, have no interest in a Cena/Rock match

Jordan 02-03-2010 09:55 PM

Cena/Rock isn't ready yet. Another year or two maybe, when Cena need a heel turn. But he makes way to much money for WWE for that to happen.

IF Rock were to have a match the best choice I think would be as a heel against Triple H as a face ... I feel like when he comes back he is going to come off as a hollywood asshole so why not have the company man (the real company man HHH) get into it with him because Triple H was man enough to stick around and the Rock fled for the movies. I would love it. Also, putting Orton over would be GOLD and cement him as the guy.

Jeritron 02-03-2010 10:24 PM

If Rock came back I'd like to see him work with everybody on the roster. Seriously, who the fuck am I kidding?
Just because Rock/Cena wouldn't be my first choice doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see it. It beats Cena/Orton #785

I'd probably most like to see him work with HBK, for dream match purposes. That's one of the only dream matches left, that isn't impossible due to old age or death. They could tear the house down and never have.
Unfortunately, everyone says it won't happen.

CM Punk, Edge, and Orton would all be great candidates for him to work a fued with. They're all at that level and could use the rub more than Cena.

I'd like to see him work with someone like The Miz too, but at this stage in the game that's not a legitimate option because he's not on the level to be drawing with him in the main event. Maybe if this came up down the road when The Miz were closer to the main event already.
They could, however, have a promo battle or even a match on Raw, while Rock was back, and that'd be great.

Emperor Smeat 02-03-2010 10:53 PM

Agree on it should be used as a moment to help Cena turn heel since depending on where they have the match, it could be another Hogan-Rock moment where it was assumed the crowd would boo heel Hogan when they went all out cheering for him. Ended up becoming one of the best moments of all time for Wrestlemania based on crowd reaction alone.

As crazy as it might sound, would be interesting if Rock's 1st night back he interrupts a Jericho promo similar to Jericho's debut where he interrupted a Rock promo. One of the best debuts in WWE history and had the crowd hot cheering Jericho even though he had a heel debut. They could even play on the idea of Rock remembering that moment similar to how they had HBK remember about last time he was with Tyson and Bret in the ring a few weeks ago.

Jeritron 02-03-2010 10:57 PM

I might watch Wrestlemania 18 tonight

dronepool 02-04-2010 12:18 AM

How about Cena and Bret Hart vs Vince/Batista with The Rock as ref? Not something I'd really want but it might be easier to pull off. But it not might be enough spotlight for Rock...

Loose Cannon 02-04-2010 12:29 AM

Rock vs anybody would be awesome

Jura 02-04-2010 12:44 AM

The Rock vs Everybody

DaVe 02-04-2010 03:16 AM

BDC is a jackass. Though, you already knew that.

Mr. Nerfect 02-04-2010 04:02 AM

Come on, I'm not exactly the biggest fan of either man, but I would cream myself for The Rock vs. John Cena. It's one of those matches that would just "work." The Rock comes back, and he crosses paths with Cena. The Rock basically asks "Who in the blue hell are you?" before acknowledging he knows who he is, but he is not impressed, because John Cena never beat The Rock. Cena can then make a comment that this is because The Rock decided to go turn his back on the WWE Universe and go to Hollywood. Simple set-up.

The fans would probably be booing the shit out of John Cena, but I imagine the reaction would be hectic in general. You put Cena over cleanly in the match, and use it as a trigger for his heel turn. "I've done movies and released CDs, but I have stayed loyal to the WWE, and you decide to boo ME? I've proven that I'm better than anyone else in the WWE, and yet you still choose to disrespect me? Fine. From now on, I've got no respect for any of you."

......so it will accomplish nothing except bringing in a huge buyrate and making the WWE a lot of money.

Right. Terrible idea.

The WWE hates money, though, remember Fox?

don't care really. tired of all the rock talk.

Damian Rey 02-08-2010 07:41 PM

If Rock comes back, and it's for longer than just on ppv, I think they should explore several options. Cena and HBK are a must. I think a fued with Orton could be interesting. CM Punk and the Rock would be enjoyable, and maybe a Rock/Miz mini fued.
