1. Was Benoit vrs Conway last monday night for the title or was it a non-title match?
2. was cena vrs danny basham for the title or was it a non-title match?

They were both non-title.

They always announces if they're title or not, and title matches usually have a build up or are advertised in advance.

Why don't they just make everything a title match (when the champ is scheduled to win)? It'd make them look like fighting champs. You don't have non title fights in boxing.
