Ghost Recon Future Soldier

Quote:

It'll feature both singleplayer and multiplayer modes, while the publisher also promises beta access to anyone buying Splinter Cell Conviction on the 360 later this year.
And my jealousy over PS3 gamers having SOCOM is quelled by the return of Tom Clancy's 3rd Person tactical shooter. Can't wait for media. I remember GRAW slapping people in the face with it's visuals. Then GRAW 2 came in looking better but moving a bit choppy. Between this and Splinter Cell Conviction, all I need to hear now is a new Rainbow Six (Vegas 3? Betting it'll have a new theme). Go Ubisoft and Tom Clancy.

Fignuts 02-09-2010 05:59 AM

Tried SOCOM Confrontation. You're not missing much. But I guess the socom people made MAG.

Loved GRAW, but the multiplayer needs a major overhaul if it's going to compete with what's out there now.

G 02-09-2010 08:02 AM

tell me this isn't the "big announcement" ubisoft said they were gonna make. where the fuck is rainbow six

viO 02-09-2010 08:56 AM

I wish ghost recon would return to it's roots, I played the first one on PC for years.

Verbose Minch 02-09-2010 10:14 AM

Oh god, more Tom Clancy games? I can't wait till it's going for twenty dollars after a week of being out.

Kalyx triaD 02-09-2010 10:45 AM

Tom Clancy games tend to own.

Fignuts 02-09-2010 01:54 PM

Yeah, dunno what this hate is all about.

they're just hatin' on it because it's cool to hate games that are lackluster, often commercially and critically unpopular, and add little to the genre.

I can't believe it.

Both games commercially successful. Shall we take a look at R6 Vegas 1 and 2? Splinter Cell, the series that changed stealth gameplay?

Fignuts 02-12-2010 02:08 AM

Yeah, where the hell did you get that idea, KK?

Also, until Halo 3 and COD4 came out, GRAW was the hottest online shooter on Live.

Changed? How about still changing stealth games...lest we forget about SC: Conviction, originally scheduled out later this month but pushed back to this April? Still pretty close down the road. I'm bettin it will get pretty favorable reviews and be yet another Clancy game that sells like hotcakes.

While we've seen how Splinter Cell pushed stealth gameplay, Conviction's late to the party as far as aggressive, predatory stealth is concerned. Batman:AA, and Assassins Creed 2 beat Conviction to the punch as far as feeling badass stalking your prey. What Conviction will do is give the series a shot in the ass even if it won't to the genre (IMO), and be a great narrative evolution for the series. And yeah, everybody's gonna buy it. Looks hot.

DAMN iNATOR 02-12-2010 09:59 AM

Fair enough. Nicely said. :y:

I forgot autistics can't grasp figurative speech. Next up: Kalyx defends TH Ride based on metacritic scores from prior titles!

Kalyx triaD 02-12-2010 11:23 AM

TH Ride sucked.

Speculation:

- As the title suggested, the series is venturing farther into the future.
- Elaborate HUD and enemy marking returns.
- Is cloaking a universal ability?
- Shoulder rockets FTW.

Emperor Smeat 03-26-2010 08:57 PM

Ubisoft has been really good with game trailers lately. This one and Assassin's Creed II live action trailer were some of the best trailers of the last few years.

Kalyx triaD 04-06-2010 10:25 AM

Multiplayer beta access available in Splinter Cell Conviction. Do pre-order as well.

Kalyx triaD 04-14-2010 04:08 PM

- Gameplay will be faster paced than older Ghost Recons. The general flow will be the same plan and execute style, but you'll have to act faster this time around.
- It seems there will be a squad mechanic, and a way to play cooperatively without needing to speak (something like Battlefield's request/order commands?). Once linked, I assume the information of all the players will e shared. You can choose to break the link of a squad as well.
- Perks can be shared by proximity. Your teammate can cloak if he's near you, for instance. No word on what other kind of perks are in the game, or how they're implemented.
- Krav Maga was mentioned should a player get close to an enemy. Melee/takedown action?
- UAVs (with Crosscam) are back, and armed this time.
- 60fps targeted.

Fignuts 04-14-2010 06:24 PM

Was reading OXM, and a big change is that you no longer give commands to your teammates. The A.I. has improved so much that they automatically follow behind you and cover your flanks. And they won't wander in front of your bullets anymore, thank god.

Kalyx triaD 04-15-2010 12:21 PM

Every shooter says that about AI ever. Even humans don't follow your lead and stay out of your sights; I think it's almost asking too much for terribly intelligent AI in squad-based shooters.

Fignuts 04-15-2010 12:26 PM

Dunno, taking out a key element of the game, like squad commands, tells me these guys might not be blowing smoke.

Kalyx triaD 04-15-2010 12:39 PM

I always liked the hands on approach, but if the AI will act right I'm in. Probably be playing coop anyway.
