The Undertaker
I've been reading a lot of comments on these boards for a while and whenever Taker comes up in discussion it seems that people have a huge problem with his no-selling offense, correct me if I'm wrong but isnt that part of his gimmick?
On top of this in recent yrs his character has become a lot more "mortal" but I fail to understand peoples overall problem with it so what gives? Now Cena is a different story......:nono: |
It works for Taker because, as you said, it's actually in his gimmick to no sell. I see no problem with it, as long as he isn't booked like Superman, which he isn't.

He's punching too much these days.

The real problem is why doesn't he eat brains?
Makes me doubt he's really undead. |

Also because this forum has had a bunch of Taker sock gimmicks who were so bad and pretty much ended any discussion towards The Undertaker. ;)

i remember early taker's offense consisted of choking guys and then finishing them off with a tombstone.
|
i think it looks dumb when huge guys oversell stuff.

In before someone posts Hogan/HBK

Yeah, the only thing he does anymore is the sit-up thing, which is still pretty cool, after all these years.
Also, he still puts on great matches, even with dead weight like Batista, so whatever. |
It's about psychology.

If Taker all of a sudden started selling everyone's offense like it was hitting him like a ton of bricks it would look awkward as hell, unless the guy was as big or bigger than Taker. If Kane came in and started manhandling Taker, it'd be understandable. If HBK starts laying into Taker and Taker sells it like he's being clobbered, it makes no sense, especially considering the gimmick. |
Didn't Hebner get into trouble for over-selling? :shifty:
|
The problem was under-cutting, not over-selling.
