Favorite "foreigners"?
It's always been a simple yet effective gimmick to portray a foreigner as either a heel or face. Who are/ have been some of your favorite foreigners as a heel or face? I've been watching alot of older NWA matches and Ivan Koloff has become one of my favorite foreign heels. I liked his gruff voice, the look with the chains, and the fact that he was only 5ft 10 but was around 300lbs in his prime (weight in Kg of course). My other favorites have to be The Iron Shiek and Nikolai Volkoff (Foreign Leigon). There match against the US Express at Wrestlemania 1 is one of my favorite matches of all time, and they had Classy Freddie Blassie as there manager. Today, I would still pay to go to a match as long as Nikolai sings the Russian National Anthem and I get to hear the Iron Shiek rant and rave about god knows what after the match

first, old NWA :y: I like you. Ivan was a great preformer. he drew heat like no other both in NWA and WWF. The Russians were on of the greatest stables/tag teams of all-time.
Great Muta definately comes to mind as one of the best foreign guys of the NWA. He was real hot in the late 80's/early 90's. One of the best heels they had |
Ludvig Borga.

Gotta show love to the Ugandan Giant Kamala no matter how bad he was. That was an amazing gimmick. Was usually a fan of the barbaric Islander gimmicks too. Meng, the Headshrinkers, Jimmy Snuka, etc.
The Canadiens probably do it the best though. The Hart Foundation was amazing. Lance Storm was amazing. The Rougeaus were amazing. Love them all. |
Also, the Great Kabuki in WCCW.
|
For me Yokozuna was a huge threat when I was a kid.

Adrian Street was also Welsh, but I arrogantly assume you never saw him. |
Cool, never heard of that Rob Terry. From Swansea!
Terry signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2007 and was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling. On November 10, Terry, under the ring name Big Rob, debuted as Nick Nemeth's bodyguard and accompanied Nemeth to the ring for his matches. On December 1, Big Rob made his in-ring debut as he and Nemeth defeated Robert Anthony and Bryan Kelly in a tag team match.[1] In December 2007 and January 2008, Terry appeared at several WWE television program tapings, accompanying Nemeth to the ring for dark matches.[1] On January 12, Big Rob teamed with Nick Nemeth in a losing effort to Mighty Mikey and Matt O'Neal. Three days later, Rob and Nemeth lost to Mikey and O'Neal in a rematch.[1] Shortly afterwards, Terry was released from his WWE developmental contract. So close to a Welshman on WWE TV :( |

Jericho is probably my favorite overall but if I include specific companies then Bret Hart/Owen Hart (WWF), Tajiri (ECW), Liger (Japan/World), Ultimo Dragon/La Parka (WCW).
