I hate the term "friendlies" too. There aren't friendlies in international football. It's meant the be the height of your career when you pull on your national jersey. Doesn't matter if it's against Brazil in the friendly or Ivory Coast in the World Cup. Players should play like every international could be their last game for their country. Only in Britain do people take a dim view of friendlies. If Brazil and Argentina take these games seriously then we are fools if we don't. Look at Scotland's record with Berti Vogts. We barely won a friendly that apparently don't mean much. It did however drop us like 50 places in the world rankings and made us a total laughing stock (as opposed to just be the glorious losers we were before).
