Say for instance, when you jump and kick in mid-air. You need easy access to two buttons to do that...and this remote does not give you that.

It just won't work. Stupidest fuckin creation ever.
And you do?

If you're just using the remote, you have easy acess to two buttons. What's that, a big A button on the front, and a big B button on the back. Why that's two buttons right there, oh my.
Who's to say you'll even need a button to jump, when you could just lift the controller, then you only need one button (for kick - in your example).
The joystick, which doesn't have to be used, has two extra buttons on the front of it as well.

I just realised it's a quite clever design in that it can be used equally by left and right-handed people.

We all know how the 3rd party support is with Nintendo already, I'm afraid this could be one of the final blows.
But oh wait, what's that on page 2, a link to an interview with Nintendo Europe's Senior Marketing Director saying that there will be a more tradional controller to go with it as well.

Here's the link again, seeing how you missed it the first time:

And if you're too lazy to even click the link, here's the exact question and answer for you, to which I am referring:

Jim Merrick: We're producing a classic-style expansion controller, based on traditional designs like the Gamecube controller. It's like a shell with a hole in the top into which you slot the freehand-style controller, and then you can play third-party ported games, and retro Nintendo games you've downloaded.

Nintendo didn't do this to be revolutionary, they did it to be "cheap." Cost effectiveness is one of their big things, so that they don't get killed taking a hit on each system sold. Once they add a tilt censor, "ZOMG! ITS REVOLUTIONARY!"
Because it's just a tilt sensor they've added
They've created a truely 3d controller, something that will take away from the abstractness of the current 2d controllers and be accessable to more people.

I think that it will be a good thing for games, I think it's a brave move by Nintendo.
I remember the time when the first shots of the N64 pad were released, and people hated that and the idea of an analogue stick. Now look at pads.
Of course final judgement will be reserved until I play the thing, but I think a lot of good original games will come from it.
