I still don't get where Bruckheimer fits in, but ok. Lost and Housewives are successful because of their quality writing and acting which equate to an entertaining hour of tv. There is no other show on today that compares to Lost, IMO. The amount of discussion this show creates among the viewers is huge. There hasn't been a show of this type that has people talking since X-Files, and before that, Twin Peaks.
Skin failed because it was a crappy show. Terrible writing, non-sensical plots etc. I honestly thought the The Tick was decent but it's not the type of show to appeal to a lot of people. Also, they were both on FOX. A network that cancels a show just because they feel like it.
