I'm sorry, but Matthew Fox and Dominic Monaghan aren't bankable stars. Well, they are now, but last TV season, they weren't. Also, notice I said "little-known" and not "unknown." There's a difference. Let's look at the cast:

Matthew Fox - Was on a series that was cancelled five years ago (so is Don Johnson a bankable star? Is that why "Just Legal" is doing so well?)

Dominic Monaghan - Probably the tenth-best known actor from the LotR series (behind Wood, Astin, McKellen, Mortensen, Lee, Tyler, Weaving, Blanchett, and now Otto). Just being in a massive movie doesn't make you a big star. See Ian McDiarmid.

Evangeline Lilly - I'm not kidding, she was in "Live Links" commercials before Lost. You know, meet hundreds of local singles who are just dying to talk to you.

Terry O'Quinn - Ton of guest appearances on shows like "West Wing" and "Alias," but nobody knows who the fuck he is. Well, they do now, since John Locke is the most interesting character on television. But last fall, they didn't.

Josh Holloway - Who?

Maggie Grace - Who?

Naveen Andrews - Who?

Emilie de Ravin - Who?

But, hey, if you can't bring yourself to watch more than an episode, that's fine. But you really shouldn't be making generalities. I hated "Family Guy" the first time I watched it, but it wasn't until the third or fourth episode I watched (trying to figure out what all the fuss was) that I realized how truly unfunny it was. Ditto "CSI" (except replace "funny" with "watchable").

I guess the point is, if you're going to dismiss it, that's cool, but at least don't base your assumptions on the very last episode of a season. Of course characters and story arcs will look shallow if you only get a two-hour glimpse at them.
