Since his "return to coaching" in 1997 he's coached 8yrs.

He made the playoffs twice.

Winning the superbowl once
Losing in the first game once.

I don't see how that added to his resume somehow gets him in the HOF when he didn't make it before (his last year before 1997 was 1982, he was elligible for the HOF and didn't get in).

His Career numbers are
Reg Season - 119-109
Post Season - 6-5 (1 superbowl win, 1 superbowl loss)

Sorry, that's not close to being a HOF coach.

Maybe if he had stayed in STL in 2001 and had a 3rd Confrence title for his resume, or if KC made the playoffs a few times...

Sorry, he's a good coach and he's very emotional, but he's not a HOF coach.

Vermeil joins Bill Parcells, Dan Reeves, and Don Shula as the only coaches in NFL history to guide two different teams to the Super Bowl. In 1999, he led St. Louis to a win in Super Bowl XXXIV and guided Philadelphia to Super Bowl XV after the 1980 season.
