Typically even if the local team isn't playing the affiliate the team plays on gets the big game of the week. You know that though. The thing I like is that the Jets and Giants are in the AFC and NFC respectively, and on CBS and FOX respectively. I don't have to worry about getting shafted out of seeing my team. Now I know the Jets get priority over the Bills where I am, but if the Jets aren't on the Bills get shown.
I don't think teams would minimize their viewing audience and the article that Assman posted seems to me would be the NFL only hurting their own bottom line.

I see the opposite, I see more people making sure they have the NFL network, more people watching exclusive NFL shown games, their network, their commercials, etc... I think you may see it even more.
Don't forget, MNF goes to ESPN, that's a cable channel also, so if you don't have Cable, you wont get MNF.
