His first match was at Survivor Series 97 against Mankind. I always forget to mention it, but that was one of my favorite angles of all time. I remember marking the fuck out when Mankind clocked him in the face with a steel pipe and Kane went down and out for the very 1st time. The whole angle was set up like this:
Kane was doing his thing where he would come down and destroy guys. Well one night he chokeslammed Dude Love on the steel ramp. So then we get a returning Manking (who had never played a babyface mind you) and he comes down to the ring with a pipe and nailed Kane as Kane was going to demolish Ahmed Johnson.
It was so well done cause here we have sick and twisted Mankind, who had been despised forever, sticking up for everyone in the back and challenging this new Monster. It was the perfect matchup.
