In hockey for example, if a player is suspended for something, say in Europe, the NHL recognizes that suspension and will not allow that player to play in the NHL. Vise-versa as well. Otherwise what's the player's punishment really? This is the way it needs to be. Doesn't matter if the suspension of for a violation of something another league doesn't enforce. A suspension is a suspension.
