Also, learning some basic theory might help your musicianship. You don't need to take advanced classes or anything, but it kinda helps your playing most of the time (And vice versa...Learning bass and piano has helped my theory work).
Learning voicing and movement moves has actually allowed me to write better parts for a guitar (Though I still confer with people on the parts, because I can't fret a fucking guitar)
