Nobody's doubting Hogan's popularity. That much is undeniable. What we're doubting is his ability to put over young talent.

I assume that the "dying gimmick" you're referring to is Muhammad Hassan, which further proves your lack of grip on reality. Hassan was the most relevant and edgy character WWE had come up with since the original DX, and he was arguably the most effective heel of the 21st Century. He wasn't "killed off by a hero." He was censored by trigger-shy network executives.

Just out of curiosity, which young people has Hogan put over...ever?
